Camp Connell is a great place to be if you want to be between Bear Valley (skiing) and Arnold (groceries, food, etc.).This place looked nice enough from the photos and was priced slightly better than the other options. It overall served our purpose of providing a basecamp for skiing, but it felt quite dated and in need of maintenance. The place had recently been cleaned, but the carpets in the bedrooms were old and stained and needed to be replaced. The kitchen cookware, while technically clean, was quite stained and could also be replaced. When we walked in, we noticed a strange odor that permeated the place and did not dissipate throughout our stay. It may have been a leftover sulfur-smell from maintenance having recently been done on the gas stove. Jolene, who promptly responded to our questions/issues was very helpful (thank you).I don’t have great things to say about “Vacasa” vacation rentals, the management company—they have scammy policies. For instance, they have an earlier standard check-out time of 10am, but then they email you about adding a “late-checkout”, but for a fee. Altogether just feels like shady business practices. Anyway, stay here if you want a convenient location and a place to flip after skiing, but beware that the place is a bit dated, and in need of some maintenance and a deep clean.
