Just returned from our week stay with extended family (8 Adults & 3 children… 11yo, almost-2yo, and 10 month old). This was our first time in Outer Banks. The house was beautiful and the location to the beach and walkability to Duck was wonderful. Pros: each bedroom having its own bath, all of the King sized beds, corn hole, and pool. Our major problem? Housekeeping. The floors were not clean. They immediately made our feet, as well as the knees and tops of feet of the 10 month crawler, black! We were never given sheets for the 2 top bunks. Our towel sets were a mishmash (missing towels, the number and variety of towels on each pack was different)…not to mention that some of them were stained. There was a previous occupant’s empty tobacco packaging under a bed. We had to clean the dirty microwave & greasy pots that were in the cabinet. There was dog hair on pillowcases that we had to wash. While all of this is bad enough, I followed the realtor’s request and emailed housekeeping in 24 hours. They never responded (I also sent another email later). I did end up speaking to someone at the realtor (Shoreline OBX) about a separate issue and made her aware. While she apologized, no one ever made an attempt to rectify the situation. She asked why I didn’t call them but I said not only was I trying to give housekeeping a chance, I also am on vacation & lost track of time! This lack of response or care is what bothered me more than the situation itself. Very disappointing…
