„This is an exceptionally unique property! This was our second stay at the retreat and our only negative comments are (1) we could only stay one short night, and (2) there were no fireflies!“

„Super Lage, vom Bett kann man direkt auf den Mississippi gucken! Auch ansonsten super Motel, alles sauber, schön ausgestattet und mit dem Check-In, obwohl niemand vor Ort war, hat auch alles super geklappt!“

„This motel appeared to have been bought by a family from India. They were anxious to help and do things. I suspect the previous owners had not kept it up and they are doing a good job of fixing things. Attached to the motel is a bridge that takes you to a great spot to watch the sunrise. There are no restaurants close but are several across the bridge.“

„Great spot!“

„First time using Vrbo and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The space was a cute little spot right off the main road, making it super easy to get to everything. The house was clean, well-lit, and had such a cozy feel - especially the super comfy bed. The host was incredibly easy to communicate with and very quick to respond, which made everything smooth and stress-free. Would definitely stay again!“

„Fantastic location and cool history!Beds and bedding were comfortable. The bathroom was fantastic! Lots of towels too!Only downside is it is hard to get airflow in there. And the table in the 2nd room (with 2 queen beds) is hard because the lighting isn't strong in there. We knew this in advance - its a kitchenette, not a kitchen! The counter ice machine was really helpful! We loved it and will be back!“

„Expected a stove and kitchen sink for the price.“

„This historic location was an amazing home base for our girl’s trip to NE Iowa. It’s clean and such a unique place to stay. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of room for the four of us. Our favorite part was people watching from the sun room area, although margaritas on the back patio were a close second. :)“

„The host makes everything real easy for you. You and your family will have a good time!“

„Good location, a bit noisier than I expected due to trains during the night and some construction. Close to Yellow River Forest, Effigy Mounds and Pikes Peak State Park. Comfortable furniture and bed. Kitchen area includes microwave and small fridge, no sink. Looked like a nice fireplace which I did not use. Shopping, but few restaurants of note on main street; a couple of bars and one gourmet store. Kwik Star right across the street which was convenient. Host was friendly and accessible.“

„The converted jail was such an interesting and unique place to stay. The property is beautiful, the house and room were clean and inviting, and the cell block was a great place to hang out and explore. We loved morning coffee on the balcony and the fabulous whirlpool tub for relaxing. Make sure to check out the incredible food at the local Algerian restaurant, and a lovely river walk, or explore the four story antique mall in town!“

„The space was welcoming, clean and quiet. It’s a fabulous location. We were at a family reunion but the location near the park offers a lot of recreational opportunities. There is a surprising amount of sleeping space. Shari was very responsive so any questions were addressed quickly. It was very hot so we didn’t spend much time outside but the new patio with the fire pit would be fantastic for cooler evenings. I was concerned that we only had one bathroom for 4 couples but there is a ...

„The apartment is spacious, very clean, and comfortable. It features beautiful views of Elkader. The location is in easy walking distance to the shops, restaurants, and riverfront trail. I hope to stay again. “

„Wonderful historic location. Host provided thoughtful extras that we didnt think to bring. Our only suggestion would be if you prefer a softer mattress I would bring a mattress pad.“

„My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary weekend. The house is so cute and well kept. Mary and Daryl are excellent hosts. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. The bed was incredible! I haven't slept that well in quite some time. The little book of information that the host left was the most detailed and helpful one I've seen. The house has a wonderful history that I really enjoyed learning about. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here if you are in northeastern ...

„This property is well appointed and has a beautiful view of the river. There were 10 of us staying and we had plenty of room to relax and have privacy. The location is great for fishing, boat rental, and it has a convenience store very near. The train tracks are near which adds to the charm in our opinion. Ear plugs provided worked well. I highly recommend.“
