The room was quite run-down. There were holes in the walls, and the bed was so hard that I woke up with a very stiff neck and back. I had to sleep on top of the blanket to get any comfort. The walls are thin and we could hear the nextdoor neighbors laughing, washing dishes, taking a shower, etc. the bidet on the toilet didn't work either.
We asked to upgrade the room because our first room didn't have curtains, and the pictures of the upgraded room showed curtains, but when we came into the room, there were absolutely no curtains! Even if the window faced a wall, and there was only some light coming through, it would have been nice to shut the curtain. That's the whole reason we upgraded and paid more.
There was a very moldy smell coming out of the AC, and in the shower area. The shower floor was extremely gross and dirty. The shared slippers smelled like feet, so I was hesitant to use them, but the floor in the room was very dirty, so I felt it was necessary to wear the slippers.
I know it's a two star hotel, but I don't think it was worth the price at all. I honestly don't recommend this hotel. For that price, there's definitely way better options. I normally don't complain about a hotel like this, but I was pretty dissatisfied with the whole thing. Definitely not the right price.
The only good thing is that customer service was helpful when upgrading the room, but the guy at reception couldn't speak Japanese or English, so it was a bit frustrating when checking in.
