Unfortunately, my stay was overshadowed by an unsafe and unfortunate experience. The situation was deeply troubling. After having a nice day hiking and swimming in the Ocean, we were locked out of our room. Apparently, the deadbolt had been locked. It was unclear if it was done by the pool cleaners or what. It was not only inconvenient but also dangerous, as we were separated from essential items such as medication, clothing, and chargers. To make matters worse, we were left stranded in our swimsuits and forced to manage without any of our belongings, including passports and money. This incident also caused significant reputational harm, as I am a CEO and had an important meeting scheduled the following morning. Unfortunately, I was unable to prepare or attend because I didn’t have access to my laptop or clothes that would be appropriate for the meeting.
This entire situation was both unacceptable and avoidable, stemming from negligence and poor communication. A backup key to the unit was available on the wall, secured by a simple four-digit code, yet this crucial information was never provided to us. As a result, we were left waiting for hours, stranded and uncertain, before ultimately having no choice but to arrange alternative lodging on our own.
Security confirmed that the unit was locked in a way that we could not open. They tried using the code, and could see it was blocked. We had to wait the next morning to get back in.
Refund and reimbursement was refused.
