„First, the positive: The room was renovated! The rest of the hotel is in an absolutely desolate state. Old, worn, and not at all like the pictures on Hotels.com. The onsen, and especially the sauna, are on the verge of collapse. Absolutely unacceptable. The foreign staff, from Nepal or Pakistan, are unfriendly and arrogant—there's no Japanese atmosphere at all. I've been traveling to Japan for onsen 5-7 times a year for over 12 years. „Das Ryokan war wirklich ausgezeichnet. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. „Extrem hilfreiches Personal. 10 von 10 Punkten.“

„Wunderschönes Hotel inmiten eines Hügeligen Waldes. Umwerfende Aussicht vom Onsen in der obersten Etage. Die Lage ist super für Aussflüge in der Region“

The second thing to say is that they have a bit of an annoying guest registration where you have to enter a lot of information on a tablet computer, even if you entered it already while booking. But what was so great here was that the room felt really luxurious, the own little onsen bathtub was suprisingly popular with us and we really loved it. The ...

„It was lovely“

„The owner is lovely and very helpful - although we are fans of Japanese food, we enjoyed the (Western) breakfast (which had to be ordered every day in advance) and the owner was helpful in giving advice and tips for Nikko's many attractions and for places to eat nearby. Some of the latter were a bit "hit and miss" - the Chinese restaurant wasn't very good and, despite being cheap, the food was stodgy and not very tasty.
