Camping overnight in a turf house village we decided to go on an #Adventure towards the snow capped Herdubreid the Queen. Many Icelanders consider her to be the most beautiful mountain in all of Iceland. Herdubreid is actually a tuya, a flat topped volcano with steep sides that forms when lava erupts through a glacier. This campsite was one of the most unique we stayed at with its all of its turf houses.

This was the best stay on our Iceland trip! Great modern and comfy rooms in a quiet lovely area where sheep are roaming around freely. Breakfast was also very good! We were a bit sad when we had to leave after only one night...

Perfect stay
Nice and cozy little cabin just out of Höfn, contactless check in and out, next to the main street but still quiet, grocery store nearby, grill on patio in good condition, overall very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend!

Dettifoss waterfall, one of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe. It was about a half mile walk back to the waterfall and when we were there everything was covered with a pretty thick layer of snow. As we were waking up to the waterfall we saw this complete rainbow stretching across the whole waterfall. A few minutes later, we watched it slowly fade away. Luckily we were able to snap a few pictures before it was gone
