„We stayed at the Manor House for two nights. It is a beautiful old building, which has been thoughfully modernised inside. Our room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom had a good shower, with plenty of hot water. It was also surprisingly quiet, for being in a town, with the occasional call of a pair of tawny owls. The staff were absolutely great, and very efficiently with their service. Breakfast was superb, with a menu to suit everyone. Don't be put off by the hotel not serving evening ...

„I rented a room here for a family of three, and it was convenient to where we were going and places to eat. It's in a lovely neighborhood. Overall, it was affordable and clean. Communication with the manager is quick and convenient, mostly through email. There's an onsite caretaker that we saw in the mornings. I highly recommend it for an affordable stay.“

I loved being able to wander into the Service Station and just have what I wanted for breakfast rather than having to pay £11 or £12 for a breakfast when I only have a very small appetite. „Very enjoyable stay at The Cheshire Cheese Inn, staff were very helpful and friendly. We had the evening meal and the food quality was excellent and the service great. Nothing was too much trouble and the team chatted to us throughout the evening. Breakfast the following morning was top notch (my particular favourites being the sausage and bacon). I would wholeheartedly recommend a stay in this wonderful establishment if you’re ever in the area,“

„The room pretty much ticked all the boxes for me. everything in very good condition, well maintained, very clean room and bathroom. Very reasonably priced. Bath/shower, small touches like biscuit with the tea/coffee kit, and real soap, no nasty squirty dispensers. It is over a pub, so some conversations audible until 11pm, but not to a problem level, and no restaurant, but plenty of food options within easy walking distance. Pub looked fine as well.“

„Hübsche, kleine, rustikale Häuschen, in denen die Zimmer untergebracht sind. Die Zimmer sind sauber und gut eingerichtet, allerdings ist das Bad winzig klein und das Warmwasser nur nach einigen Experimenten zu bedienen. Das Restaurant/Pub ist sehr gemütlich und das Frühstück lässt nichts zu wünschen übrig.“

"Champneys Mottram Hall – Wellness Retreat or Overpriced Sauna? We were really looking forward to a relaxing night at Champneys Mottram Hall. For over £200 a night, you’d expect comfort. Instead, we got a masterclass in how not to do hospitality. We asked to see a room first — after reading quite a few bad reviews (which turned out to be accurate). The room they showed us was fine… but then it wasn’t available anymore. So we booked another one, slightly cheaper, still overpriced. It wasn’t even ready, despite being listed as available online. We were sent to the restaurant to wait, where the only food was burgers and fries — at a wellness resort. Classy. When we finally got the room key, we stepped into what felt like a furnace — at least 40°C, no air conditioning, barely openable windows, and a tiny desk fan trying to cool it down. Outside the window? A wall of deafening industrial ventilators. The room was loud, boiling, and totally unfit for sleep or rest. If I wanted to be roasted alive next to jet engines, I’d have booked a Ryanair tarmac picnic. Save your money. This isn’t luxury — it’s a loud, sweaty disappointment dressed up as a spa break. "

"Der Check In war eher unfreundlich und sehr unpersönlich. Es wurde nur kurz über das Frühstück gesprochen wo das stattfinden soll, wobei das noch mit falscher Uhrzeit. Für das, das es ein SPA Hotel sein soll wurde darüber nichts gesagt und keine Information gegeben wie der SPA zu nutzen geht. Auch auf dem Zimmer keine Broschüre oder sonstigen Angebote wie man als Gast das nutzen kann. Das Zimmer direkt nebem dem Aufzug sollte man meiden da sehr hellhöhrig."

"Classy Hotel in an 18th Century Georgian architectural landmark which was saved by the Hotel Company. Went there first on a rushed business trip and went back half a year later to enjoy it finally with my partner. The pool is warm and not exactly for a sporty swimmer, but is nice with the opportunity to swim outdoors. Beds and Breakfast are excellent and up to the price. After finding the south of England more and more crowded, the Peak District is an area I was happy to discover."
