We booked our stay to visit Milan for our last two days in Italy. The host said the apartment was ready & we could check in which was around 12pm. We arrived to the main door & the woman that greeted us clearly did not want us there but we explained we booked a vbro and she told us to message the host. Once I messaged the host called me via WhatsApp to go over the instructions to the enter the building. Once we entered the building we were already nervous as it was very dirty and the neighborhood was not so swift either. The old dirty odor was the first thing that hit us when we entered the actual apt. After looking around we realized the apt was not acceptable to sleep in. It was very dirty, floors, sofa, counters, fridge, bathrooms, etc. The toilets were taped down & beds were made as though a cleaning crew was there, they just didn’t clean well. We could have written our names in the dirt on the floor and on the solid surfaces. We messaged the host and didn’t receive a reply. We waited about 15-20 min and then left as we had limited time to explore the city. 5 hours later after reporting the incident to VBRO, the host finally messages back to say the cleaning team was scheduled to go at 2:30 in an effort to have the apt clean by 3. This did not make sense. No team could have had that apt clean in 30 min for one, & for two, it was never communicated that the cleaning team wasn’t finished or was coming back. The host doesn’t want to refund us. No way I would book here.
