Angela's home is beautiful, immaculate, and perfect for our family of three. We were greeted by two dozen fresh tulips, a welcome packet, a delicious bottle of wine, local bagels and (two!) cheeses, fresh eggs, and crackers. Breakfast on the house! When we stepped onto the deck, the gentle scent of flowers below and the view of the Adirondack mountains was a treat for the senses.
The house looks better than the pictures but perhaps most importantly, the house feels luxurious and loved. Books line the plentiful shelves on topics ranging from art to architecture, music to literature, and cuisine. The kitchen is well-equipped—top-notch cookware, cutlery, glassware, utensils, serving bowls, basically everything one might need. Prefer grilling? That's covered too! Want to work out? Head downstairs. Want to work while having a perfect view of the mountains, being able to smell the cooking from the kitchen, and see what's happening in the living room? Yes, you can (though you really shouldn't since that wouldn't be a vacation now, wouldn't it?). What's better than a deep soaking tub with artisan-crafted bath amenities? A tub with a view of the mountains and stars.
Wake up to birdsong and stargaze at night. Look out for hummingbirds too (yes, there is nectar for them). Watch the little chipmunks busying about the backyard in the morning and listen to the hoo-hoo-hoo of an owl in the distance as night falls. Take a walk on the dirt road in the morning and be greeted by the waves and smiles of friendly neighbors. Lie back on the comfortable cushioned lounge chairs in the evening and watch the setting sun light the skies ablaze.
The house is a seven-minute drive to Middlebury and you'll pass beautiful Middlebury College on the way there. The town is classic Vermont charm, complete with a roundabout, a waterfall, independent stores, and a range of restaurants.
So set aside your cares and partake in the tranquility this home offers in abundance if only for a while.
Put simply, Angela is an excellent and responsive host, this is the best place we've stayed, the most relaxing vacation we've had (and we have a toddler!), and we can't wait to be back!
