Great Location, Needs some fixing up
Great location, very close to the Old Port and within walking distance of many attractions. It is adequate for the price. But the apartment needs some fixing up. The pictures posted are from when the place was brand new, so they are not representative of the current state of the apartment. The walls are a bit grimy and could use a coat of paint. In the kitchen the wooden countertop is warped and needs fixed near the sink. The pillow cases are clean, but I’d replace all of the pillows on the bed. They could maybe provide extra pillows, too. On the plus side, all the appliances (washer, oven and stove) are of good quality and work well. The kitchen has enough dishes for a couple, and the pots pans, and utensils needed for cooking simple meals. The main room is spacious for Europe and there is a comfortable queen bed. The bathroom is very nice, and the separate room for the toilet wins the prize for the smallest room you can fit a toilet into. The balcony, located on a shared walkway, has a nice table and chairs for two, and while we were there the balcony had very little traffic. You have a view of the top half of the hill with the Notre‑Dame de la Garde. Parking is scarce, but the large Vieux Port underground parking is nearby. No elevator, so keep this in mind if you have lots of luggage as it is 3 flights of stairs up to the 4th floor. This is an old building that is not very well-managed (no fault of the of the property owner). The lights in the outside stairwell were only turned on one night in the week we visited, but enough light from the street gets in to walk up safely. There’s some street noise at night, as it is on a busy street, but you get used to it. In the summer when it is hot and you need the windows open, this might be an issue. If you do laundry, note that the clothes line is outside the window in the living room. So, lots of little things need attention, but it really is a great location.
