" Our stay at the Mercure Bedford Hotel was extremely disappointing and unacceptable. The hotel is not at all as shown in the pictures online. What we experienced on site was completely different and a major visual disappointment. In our opinion, this hotel does not deserve a 4-star rating. Upon arrival, we were given a room where the toilet did not flush and the water would not drain. The carpet was very dirty, and the bed duvet was visibly stained. We had to change rooms three times before finally being given a room where at least the toilet was working, which caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience. The hygiene and maintenance standards were far below expectations. I have formally complained via email to the hotel management and requested a refund, however to date I have received no response. I would not recommend this hotel and will not stay here again."

"Very tastefully decorated room with crafted warm wood & muted colors. Comfortable armchair. Very clean bathroom with decent water pressure. The bar was a highlight as well, lovely traditional vibe with very comfortable seating & great views. Accomplished next-level drinks & outstanding cream tea with enough clotted cream (somehow places never serve enough) & truly excellent scones. They’re a national staple but good ones are so hard to find. "

"Das Hotel war an sich in Ordnung. Leider war das Zimmer sehr warm. Klimaanlage gab es nicht und das Fenster hätte man Max 10cm öffnen können, was wir aber wegen den ganzen Insekten davor auch nur kurz gemacht haben. Für die 25£/Nacht bekam der Hund beim Check in ein extra Türschild (Do Not disturb/attention mit einer Pfote) und mehrmals den Hinweis den Hund nie, nie alleine im Zimmer zu lassen. Außerdem gab es auf dem ganzen Gelände und im Hotel keinen Mülleimer außer im Zimmer."

"During the last leg of our vacation, we stayed at a hotel in Cambridge for one night. Having previously experienced a range of accommodations, including an Airbnb in Cambridge, an apartment hotel, and a large hotel in London, this particular hotel stood out as a pleasant surprise, especially considering it was not as pricey as the others. The bed was notably comfortable, and the breakfast provided was a highlight of our stay. We were treated to a proper English breakfast, which was quite wonderful. The bathroom and shower were both clean and of a good size. The hotel also had effective air conditioning, although we didn't need it much as the weather was mild. The staff were quite friendly, which was particularly reassuring given some warnings from locals about potential unfriendly encounters due to the changing political climate. However, we found the staff to be very kind and they treated my son with exceptional sweetness and respect – a factor that always makes a big difference to me. I would recommend this hotel, especially to other foreign-looking travelers, for a comfortable and welcoming experience. "
