Um die Wende des 20. Jahrhunderts war das Gatehouse Kollen Park das Begrüßungszentrum des Western Gateway of Holland, Michigan! Der GateKeeper begrüßte Reisende, die aus dem Süden an die Lake Macatawa Waterfront im Kollen Park und in die Innenstadt von Holland kamen. Jetzt heißen wir Sie im Gatehouse herzlich willkommen, um alle wundervollen Annehmlichkeiten zu genießen, die Downtown Holland zu bieten hat!

Quick Getaway

We arrived and got in with no problems. Great location to downtown and in walking distance to Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant and nice park close by! The house was very clean and cute. The upstairs bedrooms were nice size but the curtains could be a little darker. Too much light came in and I like it dark when I sleep. I get the mattress protection but our sheets kept coming untucked and drove me crazy ( haha short trip)! The dining table chairs could use a little padding! The lighting I. The downstairs bedroom could be a bit brighter. You couldn’t see anything. We couldn’t figure the tv out with the CC, we couldn’t turn it off. Other than those few personal issues we had a great time and I would recommend this location for future use.

Holland Charmer

This is a beautifully maintained historical home full of character. We were a family of 6, ranging from 13 to 74 and having one bathroom was challenging at times but we knew that ahead of time. This being an older home has about 20 steps to the 2 upstair bedrooms and the steps are short, a little scary for this 68 year old. The home is situated in sort of an industrial area, one of them being Heinz Company (now we know why sometimes we smelled pickles). Kollen Park is just 2 blocks away and had entertainment 3 of the nights in the bandshell. Our morning walks to the bakery and being close to town was a big plus for us.

Our stay in Holland

The house holds so much character. Landscaping is phenomenal. Beautiful view of the water just across the way. Nice park within easy walking distance. We were in town for a wedding at the Boatwerks. Perfect location for this. The only complaint we had were the upstairs beds were uncomfortable but this could be an easy fix with a mattress topper. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Needs a facelift

Great communication with David. The place was in a great location. We went our two little girls and we were able to walk to an awesome park. The place is just old and is in need of a deep clean. The instructions asked us to take off our shoes, but the rugs are old and need replaced and our socks were gross by the end of each day. The place has 3 bedrooms and can accommodate a good number of people, but only has a 4 cup coffee maker. (I actually bought one for $15 and left it there.) With a little bit of an investment in freshening up, this could be a great place!

Wonderful stay!

Property was clean, well-kept, plenty of space for our family of 5 to spread out. Close to waterfront park and close to downtown Holland as advertised. We rented bikes and explored the town and just loved the central location, close to everything. We enjoyed making breakfast in the house and made use of the firepit in the backyard one night for some smores. The wildflower gardens around the property are gorgeous and the owner has taken a lot of care to update this house and make it a really lovely place to vacation. I would definitely return and stay again next time we go to Holland!

Right amount of space and great location

My three kids each had a bed upstairs, husband and I had the bedroom downstairs and it worked out wonderfully. We were able to walk over to Kollen Park and play, very convenient for driving to anywhere we needed to get to, could walk to DeBoer’s. Beautiful landscaping, I enjoyed sitting on the porch in the mornings with my coffee. Kitchen was stocked, laundry was very convenient and everything went great for our long weekend.

This was a great house to stay at in Holland, MI. Close to a great park, walking and biking trails. My family of 8, 4 adults and 4 kids 5 yo and younger. There was plenty of room. And we all survived with 1 bathroom. Will stay here again.

What a beautifully kept vintage feel in this rustic home!

The home itself is so well kept, well stocked and loved on routinely and is in thee best location! We walked... to the park, the playground, the boardwalk, an amazing dinner and a cute cafe. And a few mile drive to the Holland State Park beach made for such a wonderful lake life beach vacation! We would absolutely stay again and recommend this place, owner, cleaning crew... the whole thing, to anyone! It was lovely!!

Wonderful stay in Holland

Great little cottage in the heart of Holland, comfortable, clean, functional. Just a stones throw away from Kollen Park, the farmers market, and right on the scenic bike path to Macatawa Park and Big Red lighthouse. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect Location

The Gatehouse was the perfect location and size for my family of 6. It was within walking distance of downtown and the wonderful restaurants of Holland. The check-in process was easy and Dave was great to work with. He answered any questions we had in a timely manner. The house was clean and comfortable, and the antiques added to the charm of the house. The only issue we had with the house was the stairway. The stairs are a little narrow and steep, but after a few trips up and down you got used to them. The doorway at the bottom of the steps was a little short for my six foot five inch boys, but there's nothing you can do about the doorways of these older homes. It was a great place to stay and we would stay there again. Thanks Dave for making our stay very enjoyable.
