„Wonderfully modern and clean home. The best part was the restaurant next door and the private Onsen soaring tub. They provide a number toiletries as a convenience if you didn’t bring any. The mini splits do take time to warm up the home, but once they do it is very comfortable. “

„Very nice view on Lake Ashi, Mt. Fuji. Calm, green surrounding. We spent 7 days in the Family Villa. Walk down to Togendai Busstop 15 min. To arrivr at the location you can take the cable car to Ubako and walk down 15 min. Shops available in Sengokuhara, 15 min with Bus from Togendai. Ohnsen available. All in all a nice stay. “

„Well managed traditional hotel with beautiful surroundings, well placed to explore the sights of the Hakone area. However, the hotel would benefit from some modernisation, for instance aircon in our room could not be individually regulated/turned off. „Very quiet area. Take a bus down to the lake to go for a hike or chill. Not much at the nearest marina but you can walk to Main Marina where all the ships and people visit for great pictures.“

„It was quite a journey from the station to the ryokan. Well worth it. Elaborate Japanese dinner and breakfast. Outdoor onsen. The new part of the lodge is 80 years old. It has been on this spot for 300 years. Quick bus ride to Lake Ashi next morning. “

„The pictures online don’t do the surrounding area justice. It’s tucked in a beautiful woodsy area. The staff was okay. Their attitude was a bit underwhelming. We knew we couldn’t go to them if we needed something or had questions. There was definitely a huge language barrier which made it hard to understand the amenities. "Sehr guter Service, toller Onsen und schöne Lage am Ashi See. Ich würde jedoch nicht empfehlen mit dem Bus abzureisen, da das einem glückspiel gleicht ob der kommt oder nicht. Das Hotel ist für mich ein must visit auf jedem Trip in die hakone Region. "

However, some areas urgently need to be updated, e.g. showers, sinks, blow dryers, etc. Everything was very clean, all employees very friendly. Good Onsen experience. Beds not overly comfortable. What was not OK was the food. There are no choices whatsoever. Only set meals for dinner and breakfast are included (at dinner, a very small and unattractive a la carte menue is also available). One cannot change them, there is no flexibility in the services provided. No explanations are given beforehand what to expect. Quality of food is mediocre, very repetitice from day to day. Some items were OK but overall we had a lot better food elsewhere in Japan. Steep prices for additional drinks, even coffee for breakfast costs extra. Overall I find this place nice, but overpriced. Would only go back if food quality and service are improved and prices drop and/or updstes are made. Because everybody was so polite and helpful and the outside setting is beautiful (but touristy, you are still close to Tokyo), we keep good memories."
