We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Greensboro, GA, and overall, the experience was lackluster. While the front desk staff was courteous and check-in was easy, several issues during our visit left us disappointed.
The pool was closed due to environmental concerns—a chemical imbalance, according to the signage. We had specifically chosen this hotel for the pool, so this was a frustrating surprise, especially with no advance notice provided.
Our room was in need of some serious maintenance. In multiple spots, sections of the subfloor were actually showing through, which gave the room an unfinished and poorly maintained appearance. It certainly didn’t reflect the standards we expect from this hotel brand.
Breakfast also missed the mark. The pancake machine was out of order, which may seem minor, but it’s one of the signature items that usually makes the breakfast stand out. With that gone, the offerings felt pretty limited.
To top it off, the water was shut off during part of our stay while staff tried to locate and repair a leak. With no running water for a stretch of the afternoon, it was an inconvenience we hadn’t planned for—and again, there was minimal communication about what was happening.
This wasn’t the worst hotel stay we’ve ever had, but it definitely didn’t live up to the expectations set by the Holiday Inn Express brand. Hopefully, management will address these issues soon. Until then, we’d suggest exploring other lodging options in the area.
