This is my 3rd time staying at this hotel and what keeps me coming back is the fact that the rooms are clean, the lobby is comfortable, and the breakfast has a wide variety of options, including fresh fruit. The staff has always been pleasant and easy to communicate with. The hotel is in a great location with easy access to shopping, dining, freeways, and only 15 minutes for downtown Grand Rapids.
This visit was different because we came back from dinner one night to find that the battery in our lock had gone dead and we were locked out of our room. It took over an hour for the problem to be resolved, and the 2 staff members at the front desk were very ill-equipped to deal with the issue, having to call someone from another hotel to help fix the problem. There was no manager on site, and while the staff was very polite and empathic, I am concerned that there was not a better plan of action for this type of situation. The issue was a large disruption to my evening plans, and I hope the staff gets more training on these types of issues.
