Evergreen Escape: a 6-bedroom Smoky Mountain lodge for 12 with a game room, movie theater, hot tub, cedar sauna & fire pit.
Some houses ask you to go out and find the fun. Evergreen Escape keeps most of it right where you are.
Set high on the wooded east side of the Smokies, this lodge-style home sits well back from the Parkway crowds — towering evergreens, a long approach, and the kind of quiet a group notices about ten minutes after they drop their bags. Inside, the open living area is the natural gathering point, anchored by a fireplace and a big TV, with a dining table for fourteen and a breakfast nook for six just beyond it. The kitchen is fully equipped and laid out for the reality of feeding a crowd: someone flipping pancakes at one counter while someone else is already thinking about lunch.
Then there's everything else. The game room — ping pong, air hockey, foosball — tends to become headquarters by the second night, and the private movie theater takes care of the rainy afternoon and the post-dinner wind-down. Six bedrooms sleep twelve, so nobody ends up on a couch. Two king suites come with private ensuites, and queen rooms, a double room, and twin bunk space fill in around them, letting families and friend groups sort themselves however makes sense. A bonus den adds one more place to slip away with a book.
Outside is where the mountain does its part. The hot tub bubbles away for the end of a long hiking day, the cedar sauna handles the cold-weather version of the same idea, and the fire pit seats ten once the ridgelines go blue. There's an outdoor dining table for ten with a BBQ grill alongside it, a hammock strung under the trees, and a putting green for the ongoing tournament nobody officially started.
Location-wise, you're on the Highway 321 side of Gatlinburg — closer to the mountains than the neon. The Greenbrier entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park is about fifteen minutes down the road, and it's the quieter way in: trout streams, spring wildflowers, and the Ramsey Cascades and Porters Creek trailheads. Bent Creek Golf Course, a Gary Player design, sits at the bottom of the mountain, and the Pittman Center backroads and Emert's Cove Covered Bridge make an easy afternoon loop. Downtown Gatlinburg is roughly twenty minutes west when you want it — Ober Mountain, Anakeesta, the SkyBridge, and the arts-and-crafts loop — with Pigeon Forge and Dollywood another fifteen beyond that.
Most nights, though, the drive back up the mountain is the best part: the porch light on, the sauna warm, and somebody already racking the ping pong balls.
