From the minute you step in the grand entrance of this palatial 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom home in Terra Cotta Terrace, you will know you are officially at "Serenity by the Sea". Boasting over 3500 square feet of beach luxury, there is plenty of room for your group to spread out and enjoy your vacation. Through the front door, you are greeted by a spacious living area with sky-high ceilings, a wet bar, large flat-screen TV, and French doors that lead out to the covered patio and large, fenced-in backyard. In the next room, you will fall in love with the grand, gourmet kitchen featuring new granite counters, a gorgeous tile backsplash, and stainless steel appliances. Can't decide who's going to cook? You both can! There's a custom island with a second sink and additional garbage disposal, plus plenty of counter space and an additional wet bar. The first floor also has a guest bedroom with a queen bed, bunk area with two twin over twin bunks as well as a full bathroom. Up the stairs, you will find three more guest bedrooms, two with queen beds and the other with two built-in twin over twin bunk beds. Lastly, there is an updated king master suite with access to a covered balcony and an ensuite bathroom that is a true spa experience. The bathroom which is connected to an extra-large walk-in closet boasts double vanities, granite countertops, and a claw foot tub for ultimate relaxation. There is also an extraordinary custom-built tall and wide shower. This home is only a short stroll to the sugar white sands of Crystal Beach (about 500 yards), where you'll have private access. After a day in the sun, come home and rinse off those sandy feet in the outdoor shower. Come make beach memories that'll last forever at Serenity by the Sea!

Terra Cotta Terrace is a luxury development of Mediterranean-style homes in the highly sought-after Crystal Beach area. The neighborhood has private gated beach access just across Scenic Hwy 98. Close by is Destin Commons, a beautifully landscaped, pedestrian-friendly area and a great family venue where children will love to play in the interactive water fountains. Also for the younger guests, a nautically/pirate themed outdoor playground features a 1,750 square foot soft play area with various creatures from the sea, slides, and a treasure chest!  Destin Commons also has a mini-train for the kids. Destin Commons features over 75 shops and restaurants, including Godiva Chocolates, AMC Movie Theaters and Bass Pro Shop. 

All the excitement of Destin is just minutes away: choice of water-sports, golf, amusement parks, and outlet shopping.  One glimpse of Destin beaches and you're hooked. It must be the wide, white beaches and the famous emerald waters. Not to mention the fabulous fishing, the world's most beautiful beaches, addictive seafood and the full array of activities for kids of all ages and more fun to be found in Destin.

If you are near Miramar Beach, the snorkelers in your group will love the new artificial reef called Dolphin Reef, deployed in 2017.  Located just 685 feet straight out from the Miramar Regional Public Beach access (by Pompano Joe's), it is becoming a haven for sea life. Each of the 4 snorkeling reefs comprises 40 acres of permitted sea bottom. The Dolphin Reef is at a depth of 12-20 feet. We strongly recommend that snorkelers use a kayak, paddleboard, or other flotation device when visiting the snorkel reefs. Sea conditions can and do change quickly and often. Enjoy!

The house had plumbing issues. One bathroom didn't work at all most of the week. The plumber had fixed it good enough for us. The other bathrooms would barely flush with bad water pressure. It obviously has been an ongoing problem with the house.

Could be better

This house looks great, and is very spacious, but is showing its age. The kitchen was nice, and we were able to cook meals, although the selection of pots and pans and things of that nature was somewhat limited (honestly that was sort of expected for a rental). While the dishwasher technically worked, all the wheels except for one on the bottom rack we’re missing. I looked up the parts online and for five bucks they could be easily replaced. The rugs were pretty filthy, and there were some blood stains on some pillows and on the rug. The bathroom downstairs was in pretty poor condition, with a slow drain in the shower. The master suite was pretty awesome with a huge shower. The real problem was that we discovered that the dryer was not working the Saturday night that we arrived. We contacted maintenance but we did not get laundry services back until Thursday. This was a pretty big drag because we had to run out to a laundromat and waste vacation time washing and drying clothes. The location of this house is great, although this is the first time we have stayed in Destin so we don’t really have anything to compare to. We highly recommend the two restaurants (captain Dave’s and Kenny D’s) that are easily walkable. The pool was nice and there are tennis courts and a basketball hoop, which was a huge bonus, considering we had four boys with us.

Not bad but not what I expected

When we arrived, the house was very spacious but it didn't look as clean as we thought it would be. The couches and curtains are very dingy and dirty looking. There were watermelon rinds in the backyard and on the side of the house. The floor of the bathroom on the 1st floor was dirty in the corners. Then we couldn't find the switch for the ceiling fan in the living room so we couldn't utilize it. The beds were ok. They only had a light (very thin) "comforter" on them. As far as communication, we had 3 smoke alarms go off randomly at 11pm one night and the nobody answered the emergency number for the company that we were told to call. I emailed them that night but no immediate response or call back, instead a random guy just arrived the next morning to fix them. We had no idea he was coming bc nobody called and told us. The kitchen had plenty of dishes and utensils. The washer and dryer worked fine. It's just an old property that needs updating with at least new living room furniture and curtains. The dining room table only sat 6 ppl even though it sleeps up to 12 ppl so we couldn't eat together. So that was a bummer. This property suited our needs for this trip, but we wouldn't stay at this particular one again.

It was fine

This property is fine. Just fine. It is advertised to sleep 14 people, which it does. However, the only seating areas only accommodate a maximum of 6 people. That's just 6 people at the kitchen table and only 6 in the living/sitting room. There were two coffee pots in the house when we arrived and neither worked. The dish washer was missing all wheels on the lower rack which prevented the bottom water dispenser from spinning, which meant the dishwasher did not actually clean the dishes. By the end of the trip, the dishwasher had failed completely. All of this would have been fine had it not been for the fiasco of day 3. At 8:30 in the morning on our 3rd day, I was called and informed that an AC replacement installation had been scheduled for 9:30 that morning and would take approximately 2 hours. This meant that the power for the entire house would be off. This was wrong. When the tech's arrived (after 3 calls to the management company who played middle man to the property manager) they informed us that it was not a 2 hour job, but an ALL DAY job. We would be without power for the ENTIRE DAY. That is insane and unacceptable. The techs left and the install did not happen after many conversations with the management property. So, the property is fine, but it comes with minor issues, and in this specific trip's case, a major construction product that was scheduled with no notice.
