The check in experience was terrible.
We had trouble using the fob in the elevator. Even though it was the same fob that got us inside the building.
We had misunderstood the actual address of the property - we went to 254, but the actual address was 258. This was exacerbated by the fact that the fob got us in the building. It was assumed that we would arrive by car - which would have brought us to the correct number. However we arrived by foot. The third party that this was outsourced to by Hotels.com were too 'remote' geographically from us to properly understand the issue. If it had been local agents located in Canberra, the issue would hae been resolved much quicker. As it turned out, I had to book alternative accommodation for the first night of the stay, and deal with the third party agent the next day. I am seeking reimbursement of that one night's accommodation in an alternative place (an actual hotel). It was disappointing that after booking through Hotels.com, I found out that it was outsourced to a third party. If I had know that I don't think I would have booked property - I would have booked a property where there is 24 hour reception. Even though the property was good, the experience with check in at the start was very stressful.
