They let guests bring in their own alcohol which was consumed in the swimming pool and they let guests bring in their own food which was equally consumed in the swimming pool, which I found disgusting and unhygienic. In addition, guests turned up with their own loudspeakers playing loud music like reggaeton around the swimming pool. At one point I counted four different loud speakers each playing different music. Whilst this behavior is common in Latin America , this is not what I expect of a four-star hotel. You pay money for some exclusivity and not to be disturbed by other guests behaving in an unrefined fashion.

Second, in order not to be charged vat as a foreigner you must produce your proof of entry into the country. My mother-in-law who I was traveling with, entered the country but because of an immigration oversight on the part of the Peruvian authorities, she wasn't provided with a stamp or proof of Entry as a foreigner into Peru, despite the fact she had done nothing wrong and had acted in good faith. She provided her Ecuadorian identification but this was not enough for the hotel. She explained the situation to check out that the Peruvian authorities made a mistake with her Peruvian immigration status and legally could not provide her with proof of Entry...
