The only thing that let it down was the restaurant, not much selection on the menu and the chef was vaping in the kitchen on the evening we arrived which we found off putting! Breakfast was disappointing, no clean tables and the staff made no attempt to clean one for us so my daughter cleaned a table! Very little selection of food left! We did arrive towards the end of breakfast 8.30ish, but even so there was no welcome or offer of tea & coffee...

"First of all, the room was not clean, the bed also wasn't clean. There was hair on the sheets and the pillow, which shows that they weren't washed for some time. The room didn't have any shampoo, shower gel and hair dryer and we had to ask for those. No shutters in the room and the curtains wouldn't close completely so you can have a complete darkness (or even partial) in the room. On the other hands the owners / management were very welcoming and helpful when we asked for the amenities."

As well, the cottage was well-equipped and comfortable, with excellent parking. Additionally, the host was very quick to respond when we had questions, and met us punctually when we arrived. "We booked our trip the day before as a last minute break. Sabine is a wonderful host who made us feel very welcome and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The gite is very close to the Belgian border and we visited several historic sites as well as a brewery tour.
