Little Thatch Lovely 2-Bed House Near Weymouth, Little Thatch Lovely 2-Bed Near Weymouth
Within one of England’s finest realms, between the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and West Dorset Heritage Coast — Little Thatch offers a peaceful rural escape from the hustle & bustle, yet is very close to Dorset’s best coastal assets too.
This newly-refurbished converted workshop has a cosy feel and is located in a quiet nook of countryside near to villages reminiscent of a bygone era — where narrow lanes, tall hedgerows, gentle brooks, lovely walks, and thatched cottages await.
This amazing small property contains two bedrooms, absolutely ideal for a couple’s romantic getaway, or small families of three (an older child or teen). The ground floor showcases the sleeping spaces, with a double bedroom decorated in light tones, soft plush carpets, and warm lighting. Bedroom two has a cosy single bed in another light and airy space. Also on the ground floor is a shower room, with toilet, washbasin, heated towel rail, and a fantastic new shower.
Upstairs reveals a recently decorated open-plan kitchen living dining area, running the length of the lodge, with a neat kitchenette on one end, dining area in the middle, and elegant lounge area the other end. Spot lighting, sleek wood flooring, and contemporary interior design, all blend beautifully to create a modern yet calm and airy space.
The neat wooden-top kitchenette comes equipped with oven & ceramic hob, fridge (with freezer box) and sink. In the dining area, a handy space-saving wooden leaf table folds out with matching chairs. The lounge features a brand new super-comfortable 2-seat sofa, three stylish accent armchairs, a Robinsons DAB & bluetooth radio, and a flatscreen smart TV with various streaming apps to log into — a glorious space for restoring tired limbs after a long day outdoors, or for cosying up with a new book. Also on the lounge side are french doors which open inwards, perfect for air circulation and admiring the surrounding countryside from the comfort of the sofa.
Outside there’s a gorgeous private lawn garden to the front, with mature shrubs and trees, a picnic bench, and parking for one car. Of interest nearby are local walking pathways and bridleways in the Wey Valley Conservation Area, for those who enjoy rambling through the countryside. There's also RSPB bird watching localities, cycling trails, fishing spots, and horse riding facilities.
Weymouth, offering shopping and entertainment facilities, and its famous sandy beaches and harbour, is just 2 miles away. It’s great to explore Weymouth on foot or bicycle, with historic harbourside architecture, Weymouth Beach, Nothe Castle & Gardens, the Isle of Portland, Castle Cove, and Chesil Beach — all in close proximity. There’s so much to explore in this shoreline, with small coves, cosy cafes, and amazing pubs & restaurants dotted all along the coast.
Little Thatch also sits close to the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast, with Lulworth Cove, Man O War, and Durdle Door beaches just a short drive east. Heading west, you can take in stunning views on the scenic coastal road to West Bay, and the 18-mile long stunning Chesil Beach.
A regular direct train service runs from Weymouth to London Waterloo. There are multiple buses operating on a local network of routes too.
Guests can use the whole thatched lodge and a private front garden.
Due to safety aspects, both within the property with the stairs, and within the extensive grounds, the lodge is not suitable for infants or toddlers (except newborns). Due to the smaller space of the second bedroom, it would also only suit families of 3. Please message us for more details.
Being in a very rural spot, the lodge lies on an estate of several acres, with some vulnerable animals (chickens, geese etc.) allowed to roam freely. Therefore, for safety reasons, dogs are not allowed.
Please note: guests will have to climb stairs to reach the lounge kitchen dining space on the upper floor.
