Haunted mansion, or roach motel?We booked the Woodroyd estate for a week, with plans to have the vacation of a lifetime with our family group in Wellington! Paid nearly 3 grand US, and thought it would be worth it based upon the pictures, the grandeur, and the old World charm. We arrived late in the evening to discover that the narrow winding road next to a steep drop off was hard to navigate in the dark, and was poorly lit. An Uber driver relayed to one of the members of our party that allegedly Uber drivers are reluctant to serve this location because of how narrow and dangerous the road is. The Uber driver claimed that another Uber driver had apparently gone off the steep drop off while driving on the road. Although we have no proof of this, that’s what we were told. The house is spacious, and the grounds are inviting, but the house has an overpowering musty smell. Then the dominoes started falling and everything seemed to go wrong. On the top floor, we quickly noticed some large bugs that looked like roaches. We will attach the video and pictures of these bugs if the review platform allows us to do so. Kids and adults alike were screaming with alarm. We were dead tired from a flight and unloading luggage. My wife inspected the kitchen and noticed a strong fish odor coming from the fridge and freezer.
