Guest Access:
• You'll have access to the main level (2nd & 3rd Floor), and the third master suite is located separately in the English basement (access is via a separate exterior door).
• Self-check-in and access are contact-free and speedy with Yale smart locks.
• Early luggage drop-off is available inside our foyer starting at 12:00 PM.
Check-in: Smart locks access automatically starts at 4:00 PM
Check-out: Smart locks access automatically ends at 11:00 AM
The Neighborhood:
Discover the seamless blend of historic and modern charm in DC's coolest neighborhood - Shaw. This neighborhood is home to young professionals, new families, and long-time residents. Stay in our flat and you'll be just steps away from popular German beer gardens, gourmet coffee shops, and trendy restaurants. If you need to grab groceries, a Giant supermarket is just a few blocks south of the flat. Explore the Convention Center and U Street's bustling nightlife, both just a 10-15 minute walk away.
Getting Around:
Welcome to the heart of the Shaw neighborhood in DC! Our flat has a fantastic "Walk Score" of 97, making it a walker's paradise. You'll have easy access to amazing food, entertainment, and shopping. The Shaw Metro Stop is less than a 5-minute walk away, and the Convention Center is just a 12-minute walk. DC is also very biker-friendly, and there are several Capital Bikeshare stations nearby. Lyft and Uber are readily available throughout DC.
Here's some info on getting here: If you're flying into DCA, taking the Yellow Metro line straight to Shaw Metro Station or a taxi/Uber/Lyft is the easiest option during rush hours. If you're arriving at IAD or BWI, a taxi/Uber/Lyft is the best way to go. If you're coming by bus or train, you can take the Red Metro line to Gallery Place/Chinatown and transfer to the Green/Yellow Metro line to Shaw Station.
We have two free street parking spots available right in front of our home and four more across the street by the red church, all first come first serve. All other nearby street parkings have a 2-hour limit or are for residents only. The nearby Giant supermarket has a public garage for about $30/business day if you prefer parking inside a garage. We'll provide additional parking information before check-in. Independent third party parking spots may also be available on the SpotHero app.
Other Things to Note:
• The third primary suite located in the English basement offers a private entrance; includes one bedroom and one bathroom. It's designed similar to a hotel room, making it perfect for accommodating co-workers, grown children, or in-laws during their stay.
• This is our primary home. We've locked some rooms, doors, and drawers to keep our personal belongings secure, but the rest of the house is all yours to enjoy!
• If you're traveling with little ones and need baby gates for the stairs, just give us a heads up at least 7 days in advance and we'll be happy to provide them.
• We take great pride in keeping our home sparkling clean, and we appreciate your help in maintaining that standard during your stay. Your contribution makes all the difference in offering a top-notch home-sharing experience for everyone. Thank you!
Interaction with Guests:
• I am here for you during your stay, but our level of interaction is up to you. Our home offers a fully self check-in and check-out process. You'll receive detailed instructions two days before your arrival, as well as on the night before your departure.
• We'll provide links to electronic and hard copies of our House Manual and Parking Information. There are also helpful notes posted throughout the home for your convenience.
