„I was a walker arriving at the Nag's Head at 15.30. I was warmly received and shown to my very comfortable room. Although the restaurant was closed on a Tuesday evening, i was provided with a wonderful Chinese meal at a very modest cost. I requested a continental breakfast which was fine. Pick Hill is a lovely small village with a long history, some of which is displayed in the ancient church. “

„We used the Pickled Parson as a home base for a month while visiting family. The room we had for that duration of a stay was a little small, but it was comfortable, clean and made up daily. The staff were all amazing and really made us feel at home. A very relaxed atmosphere with great breakfast options. The bar was a great option to wind down at the end of the day with a night cap. „I stay here on a regular basis when I travel between Glasgow and the south. The hotel is a grand old building in a beautiful little hamlet off the A1 with lots of history. Due to this and the fact its family owned and not part of a huge chain, it’s a bit worn in places but it’s clean, comfortable and cosy with plenty of charm and quirks.. The staff are lovely, welcoming, very helpful and do their best to make your stay a good one. There’s a spa, a bar and a restaurant, the food is delicious ...

„loved the seclusion and situation of the property and the friendliness of the staff. Surrounding landscape beautiful. Difficult to find initially but that was largely due to road closures for roadworks so next time it should be easier.“

„Das Hotel liegt gut gelegen am Marktplatz. Hinten dem Hotel ein eigener Parkplatz. Wenn man in den hinteren Zimmern (Mews) untergebracht ist, hat man Sicht auf den Parkplatz und die sind sehr ringhörig. Zimmer soweit ok für den Preis, sogar mit Nespressomaschine. Frühstück war sehr gut.“

I didn’t sleep much at all the first night because of the very hard mattress but after I asked if we could have an extra duvet on the bed then the second night I slept much better. Breakfast was plentiful but the service was very slow. We had dinner here both evenings and it was ok but again the service was very slow. We would stay here again.“

„A great inn, in a good location. Staff were very friendly and the evening meal was excellent. The room was really nice with plenty of space, warm, clean and well equipped. Some noise carried through from other rooms but this wasn’t too much of a problem for our stay. Breakfast was ok but the full English breakfast fell a bit short of expectations. Overall would definitely recommend to stay at the Black Swan.“
