For my stay in Toulouse I initally booked a different hotel that I found out later was part of a global chain. I didn't want that, so I changed to Hôtel Héliot. I had read some nice reviews and it was recommended in an online travel article. It did not disappoint; I enjoyed my three-night stay.
Hôtel Héliot is a boutique hotel that is family-run. The man running the hotel was always pleasant and personable, and very attentive. My room was a good size, with bedroom nook, living area with hide-a-bed sofa if needed, and a fairly large bathroom. This was unique, in my experience, for a boutique hotel.
The hotel is next to a Metro stop which made it really convenient when traveling by train. It is only a several minutes from the main tourist area, numerous dining and shopping options. Also, Marché Victor Hugo is nearby if you want to pick up fresh fruit, vegetables, meats and cheese. And if you like buttery, flakey croissants I really liked the ones at Les Frères Chapelier, two long blocks away.
Overall Hôtel Héliot is a pleasant and convenient place to stay to enjoy Toulouse.
