Charming Lakefront Cottage with Private Dock & Mountain Views Near Lake Nantahala, Topton, NC

Fall in love with the beauty of Lake Nantahala, the second-highest lake east of the Mississippi. Enjoy our cozy lake cottage, combining charm, comfort, and style with direct access to your private dock. The entire space was designed with our guests' comfort in mind, providing easy parking and access to the house. Our back deck is nestled in the treetops, allowing you to savor the view. Since we are on a mountain lake, you must walk down the mountain to reach our dock. Breathe in the beauty, soak it up, unplug, and leave feeling refreshed.



Enter the gated community of Nantahala Shores. Drive up and park easily (three cars - no 4WD needed, but it is a single-lane, gravel mountain road). Descend the five stairs to enter the Lakefront Cottage and enjoy the feeling of being at home. One large open room for living, dining, and cooking makes entertaining easy and memories to cherish. Enjoy streaming your favorite shows on the large flat-screen smart TV (no cable). Internet is provided through Frontier DSL (slow and reliable) and Viasat (fast but sometimes dependent on weather). Wi-Fi-enabled calling allows for cell service in an area with no cell signal. (*Water levels do drop during the winter months - the dock remains afloat, but the gangplank will angle down as a result and may not be suitable for everyone.)



The master bedroom features a king bed with its own ensuite bathroom. No one needs to worry about running out of hot water, as we installed a tankless water heater. The master bathroom includes a large closet with space for a pack'n'play (which we provide) and a private tub/shower and toilet room. On the opposite side of the house are two guest rooms sharing a hall bathroom. One guest room has a queen bed, while the other lakeside guest room offers two sets of twin bunk beds and a full bed. Pile the kids in for a sleepover of six, or if traveling with friends, every room has a couples bed, so no one gets the short straw. We can comfortably accommodate 6 to 7 adults.



The back deck features comfortable furniture for relaxation. Enjoy some wine on our patio set or gather around the dining table with a view. Street parking provides easy access to the house for unloading groceries! Consequently, reaching the lake requires a hike down the mountain, specifically 170 stairs, which allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds this week. If anyone in your party cannot manage the stairs, the public boat launch at the entrance to the neighborhood offers convenient access for boats and those wishing to avoid the stairs.



Once on the dock, soak in the view or bring your boat to explore! Lakes End Marina offers the area's best boat rentals and, as a valued guest of the Cottage, offers discounts on rentals. Get out and enjoy the lake. Paddleboard to explore the lakes and the islands with a picnic or the rope swing, or call in for pizza in season at Lakes End Caf and have it delivered to the dock! Explore this beautiful lake and fall in love with the pristine beauty like so many have. Bring your fishing poles, rent a boat for the week and have it delivered to the dock, arrange for guided UTV rides, or head to the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) for white water rafting, fly fishing, ride some horses, read a book or head into nearby Andrews for grocery shopping or dinner. Too many trails to list close by to hike or just walk down our street into the Nantahala National Forest.
