For full dramatic effect, Tintagel Island and Castle ruins are best approached by coastpath from Bossiney but easily accessed by paved road too. Many centuries before the castle was built, the flat topped island was a powerful ceremonial centrepiece of Cornwall. Similarly the church of St Materianna was a spiritual site of ancients. In nearby Tintagel village are the Old Post Office and King Arthurs Halls as well as many eateries and shops.
