The accommodation and the location

The Convent of the Bernardas, located in the heart of the charming Algarve city of Tavira, was commissioned in 1509 by King Manuel I and later handed over, in 1530, to the sisters of St. Bernard, nuns of the Cistercian Order.

The rehabilitation of this building earned Eduardo Souto de Moura, architect, the Pritzker Prize and the European Prize for Architectural Heritage Intervention in 2017.

The solid wood furniture and simple decoration faithfully maintain the original design of the project's author, giving the space the true balance envisioned for the entire endeavor. The Convent of the Bernardas, also known as the Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy, was the first convent to be established in the Algarve.

Living Room: Equipped with a flat-screen TV, cable channels, air conditioning, internet, and 1 sofa bed for 1 child up to 12 years old. This room is shared with the kitchen, being a single open space, it has a dining table for up to 6 people. The entrance door gives access to the Convent's inner courtyard, the garden, and one of the pools.



Kitchen: Equipped with various appliances, such as an electric hob, kettle, fridge, stove, oven, microwave, 'Delta Q' capsule coffee machine, filter coffee machine, dishwasher, and washing machine. Basic kitchen utensils provided.



Bedrooms: 2 bedrooms equipped with air conditioning, both with a wardrobe, one with a double bed, and another room with a single bed with a bed in a drawer. One bedroom is located on the ground floor and the other on the first floor. Bed linen is provided.



Bathroom: 2 bathrooms in total, each located in one of the bedrooms. Equipped with a hairdryer, shower base, bathtub, washbasin, bidet, and toilet. Bath towels are provided.

Pool: 2 common saltwater pools.

Access: Duplex apartment, access to the master bedroom only by stairs.
