Terrible communication for check-in
I’m reluctant to leave bad reviews but in this case it is warranted. The property was exactly as advertised and clean. But I received no access instructions by check-in time. Attempts by myself and VRBO support to contact the host were unsuccessful until the next day.By that time, I’d already had to reserve and pay for somewhere else to stay for the first night. When I finally was able to contact the host, his explanation was that VRBO should have automatically sent the door access code two hours prior to check-in. No offer of a refund for the night we were locked out of the property. Everything I’ve been able to find out from VRBO is that it is the host’s responsibility to provide access instructions at least one day prior to check-in.This could have been a good stay but terrible communication cost me 200 for a locked-out night and roughly another 300 for a last-minute hotel stay.
