"Our family of nine vacationed for a week. Fantastic time, enjoyed the property. Plenty to do without leaving-basketball, swimming, fire pit, sun rises, canoeing, simply relaxing! "We loved our fall getaway at this adorable cabin. The fall colors were gorgeous and the weather couldn't have been better! Sunny and cool temperatures so we could explore the area comfortably as a family with our 2 dogs. We especially loved seeing the freighters lumber past the cabin- our favorite times were lounging on the huge porch early in the morning and late at night when the lights from the freighters drifted past. "We came up for LSSU graduation with the grandparents, my husband & I and our adult daughter. The place was perfect!!! We had room to be together or separate. The multiple bathrooms made it easier for everyone to get ready for the day. We had dinner on the deck one night & at the dining room the next due to weather. We VERY much enjoyed watching the ships go by as well. I would highly recommend!!!"

"My partner, dog and I came to sugar island to experience a new place in the UP and we will certainly be returning to Sweet Retreat!! Sheri and Jeff were the most accommodating of hosts and truly go above and beyond to ensure everyone’s comfort and fun. We used the bikes on the property and were lucky enough to take a pontoon cruise with the hosts our last night. The cabin was absolutely adorable and had everything we needed. I couldn’t recommend staying here enough! We can’t wait to come back!"

"The cabin was very clean and beautiful. We had a great time on the paddle boat and caught around 14 pike and 1 perch. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and looking over the lake. The grass was freshly mowed and looked so nice. We would definitely recommend this place and would stay there again."

"Ken was on top of any of our needs! Love the location and was a very good place outside for our dogs. Needs a little up keep but nothing that hindered our comfort. We will be back this summer and really looking forward to it!!"

"This was a girls weekend for my mom, her sister and my friend. The property is very nice and there is a nice place to sit where you can watch the boats pass by. The large picture window in the living room is also great for this. The seating in the living room is great for relaxing and visiting. Appreciated the timely and clear communication with the host."

"We loved the house and all of its charm. The view was amazing. Loved watching the freighters on their way to/from the Locks. We were there during both hot days (85) & cold (40). The ceiling fans kept the place very comfortable during the heat & the furnace kept us cozy when the weather turned. Great location with an amazing view! Convenient to gas, places to eat, groceries, and more. Host was responsive & helpful. We would love to return again!"

"This is the second time I have stayed at Deloris’s home. It remains a favorite. Spending the day watching the great freighters is a treat. Communication with Deloris is good with a quick response. The amenities are too many to mention. All our needs were met and having Deloris grocery shopping before arrival was a delight. She had the groceries in the house and in the refrigerator upon arrival. Will certainly return for another relaxing stay."

"As other reviews have stated..this is a good place for what it is, which is a clean, comfortable, convenient and affordable road side hotel. It is clearly of dated construction but the owners have focused on making it a clean and comfortable with good wifi and television. No one will mistake this for a five star resort but for what it is it is very, very good. Dining options are nearby as well. "
