The Space:
Brisbane Ranges Hideaway by Tiny Away is a peaceful bush retreat in Steiglitz, just an hour’s drive from Melbourne and 30 minutes from Geelong. This holiday home offers scenic walking trails, native wildlife encounters, the historic charm of the Steiglitz township, and spectacular starry night skies.
A cozy 139-square-foot tiny home with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette with cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and gas-heated shower—making it a perfect choice among relaxing holiday homes.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The tiny house is fully off-grid, powered by solar energy, and supplied by rainwater tanks. Please be mindful of your water and power usage during your stay.
Guest Access:
Guests can enjoy our cozy tiny home, nearby walking trails, open clearings, and a fire pit with beautiful views. Preorders are available by prior notice.

Safety Guidelines
- Please don’t enter the main residence or sheds—they’re marked.
- There are unfenced dams and a seasonal creek, so we advise guests with children to ensure close adult supervision.
- The property is natural bushland with uneven ground, fallen branches, and possible snakes in warmer months—wear sturdy shoes and take care.

Brisbane Ranges Hideaway by Tiny Away is a peaceful bush retreat near Brisbane Ranges National Park, just over an hour from Melbourne and 30 minutes from Geelong. Enjoy walking trails, native wildlife, Steiglitz Historic Park, and starry skies.
The nearest shops are about 20–25 minutes away, so bring everything you need for your stay. What's more, the tiny house is also ideally located for music lovers. Just a short drive away are two beloved local festivals:
- Meredith Music Festival (every December) — a 3-day outdoor music celebration known for its diverse lineup and strong sense of community.
- Golden Plains Festival (Labour Day weekend in March) — a boutique camping experience with a single stage, no sponsors, and a relaxed, community vibe.
Getting Around:
By car:
- From Geelong: Approximately 40 minutes (38 km) via the C142 route.
- From Melbourne: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes (95 km) via the M1 and Geelong-Ballan Road.
Nearest Towns:
- Anakie: 15 mins (14 km)
- Meredith: 20 mins (25 km)
- Bannockburn: 20 mins (24 km)
Vehicle Access: The property is accessible by 2WD vehicles.
The final stretch is a well-maintained gravel road suitable for standard vehicles in normal weather. If there is heavy rain, the road may become slippery; drive cautiously or consider using a 4WD if available.
Public transport:
Traveling from Melbourne to Steiglitz:
- Take a V/Line train from Southern Cross Station to Lara Station. From Lara, hire a taxi to Steiglitz.
Traveling from Geelong to Steiglitz:
- Catch a bus from Geelong Station to the General Store/Midland Hwy stop. From there, take a taxi to Steiglitz.
Reaching Nearby Towns from Steiglitz:
- Public transport options are limited due to the rural setting. It’s recommended to arrange taxi services for travel to Bannockburn, Meredith, Anakie, or other nearby towns.

Other Things to Note:
- A Gas BBQ grill is provided
- No unregistered guests or visitors allowed
- All mobile phone reception has weak signals
- Check-in is at 3 PM, and check-out is at 11 AM
- No smoking inside the tiny home, except outdoors
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- Pets are allowed for a fee of $50 per pet, per booking with 24 hrs prior notice and must be kept on a leash at all times. The full pet policy will be provided before booking
NOTICE TO ALL: Fires are only allowed in the designated fire pit when local authorities permit, with firewood provided seasonally—please follow all fire safety guidelines.
