Family vacation

What a beautiful island! Snorkeling, swimming with dolphins, cliff jumping, and just overall fun time. After a fun filled day, it was so nice to relax at the open air house or a dip in the pool.

Perfect Location

Location is fantastic! Beautiful view of the sunset every night, right on the water, and quiet/peaceful area. Down side to location is that you have to drive to eat at any restaurants other than the ones at the resort. The home is well furnished/stocked, though the Livingroom furniture is starting to look a little tired. When we arrived the pool was very cloudy, but Petra responded right away to our call and the pool was serviced right away. The trade winds made the living areas comfortable all day so the lack of A/C in those rooms was only notice on one specifically hot and humid day. We were there during the start of the rainy season so mosquitos were an issue. I used bug spray each day and only had a few bites during our stay so it is manageable. We would have left the A/C off in our upstairs bedroom most nights if the door had a screen to keep the bugs out as the breeze was sufficient to cool the room down. Might be worth the initial investment to lower the electricity bills? Around the island: We ate at the rooftop restaurant a couple times during our stay and their food is good. We ate at Karakter on our last night and was not impressed with the service or the food for the expense (the service was much worse than the expected "Island time" slow service). We ate at Gouverneur De Rouville twice, once for lunch and once for dinner... It was EXCELLENT both times. Great staff and every dish we had was very good. Check out Restaurant Playa Forti or blue View in Westpunt for a beautiful view and to watch people jump off the cliff. While the food at both were fine, you are going for the view and ambience. We visited Playa Casa Abou and Playa Porto Marie and enjoyed both, like Porto Marie for the softer sand/entry to the beach and the full, sit down restaurant and bar. Porto Marie is also very close to Villa Seashell so less driving! We did not get up the nerve to try the goat burgers at Williwood, I'm told we really missed out on that! We would definitely stay at Villa Seashell again!

A wonderful house for a wonderful week in Curacao

We could not have asked for a better experience renting Villa Seashell in Curacao. From the minute we made the reservation, the property owner was very friendly and helpful and even sent us an information packet that was very useful in planning our trip. The house was very clean, beautiful and exactly as represented in the pictures. The best part is the cabana overlooking the water! The view was gorgeous and it is so peaceful just to sit by the ocean with a gentle breeze blowing…I think I could live in Curacao and wake up to that every day! We enjoyed lots of snorkeling every day and our favorite excursion was swimming with sea turtles! We very much enjoyed our stay. The house was amazing, the property owner was extremely helpful and friendly, the neighborhood was very safe and there were lots of amenities right there in Coral Estate (beach, restaurant, spa, dive shop, etc). If you are trying to decide which property to rent, pick this one!

Perfect vacation

We stayed at this beautiful villa for 10 days in July. After spending a few days at a resort after arriving on the island, we moved to Villa Seashell and instantly relaxed due to the beautiful property, neighbourhood and quietness. The check-in process was quick and very friendly. The house is constructed in way that there's a breeze throughout when the blinds are open, so I actually slept without the A/C, my husband and the kids had A/C running at night which worked perfectly and was very quiet. We did a lot of cooking by ourselves (Kitchen is fully equipped to do everything and Centrum supermarket is the place to shop), also tried the Restaurant at the nearby resort one night which was also good. You definitely need a car to get around the island, but there are a lot of nice beaches to explore nearby. All in all - if we come back to Curacao, we'll definitely try to stay here again!

Lovely and Comfortable

House is everything you could want for a wonderful vacation. Comfortable, clean and great location. Four couples vacationed together and we never felt crowded for space. Pool is perfect place to cool down when not at beach. Communication with property manager was excellent. Even when our flight was changed late at night, she met us 4 o'clock in the morning next day for check out.

Villa Seashell

Villa Seashell is a breathtaking property in an amazing setting. We have been back twice. Our only complaint is that the owners seem to skimp on small things that would make a big difference for the renters: toilet paper, more kitchen staples kept from week to week, more towels and outdoor furniture to capitalize on the amazing views from the upstairs vernadas! We do hope to return and will hope that they continue to refine the property to maximize it's potential. Thank you for a wonderful week.

A slice of paradise

The home was exactly as pictured and absolutely PERFECT for our week long get-away! Spectacular outdoor space, in fact, other than cooking and sleeping, we spent the entire time outside. Our son is a die-hard fisherman and LOVED the ability to fish off of the cliffside deck. The resort was top-notch and the spa was absolutely the best spa experience we have ever had! Thank you Petra and LInda Lou for making our vacation so incredibly wonderful!

Quiet oasis

We loved this property for many reasons. Everything was perfect and there were no bad surprises. Our property manager Petra was very responsive to our needs and communicating with the owner Linda Lou was easy from day one. I would recommend this villa to anyone. The compound is extremely safe and there is security. The views and sounds of the ocean were incredible and allowed us to relax the whole time. We enjoyed Curacao and would love to return next year. Absolutely wonderful!

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Seashell and if we return to Curacao, we would stay here again in a heartbeat! This home was perfect for the seven adults in our party - the four king bedrooms with their own bathrooms were a big reason we originally selected this home. The views are absolutely spectacular - the home is right on the water and we spent every waking moment enjoying the patio, gazebo and pool. So-o-o relaxing! Pride of ownership is evident - the home is very well maintained and super clean and Petra was available if we had any questions. The owner, Linda Lou, was a pleasure to work with - her recommendations made our stay a delight!

A week in paradise

We stayed at Villa Seashell for a week. We loved the property and the area. The outdoor living area was our favorite part. We would spend the days going to different beaches/sightseeing and the afternoons were spent in the pool. As the sun was going down we would move to the outside cabana to enjoy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails while we watched the sun go down. Each sunset different from the previous day. Rarely did we go inside but the inside of the home is comfortable. We had a fabulous totally relaxing holiday. Thanks for having us!

Good if you are a large family on a very tight budget.. otherwise pass!

My wife and I booked five nights and left after two. The house looks much better in the pictures. The house layout is horrible. The only place to get a good water view is from the back porch or the hut near the water. The hut was very nice. The back porch was very nice. That's about it. The house does not have glass windows. Instead it was heavy wood shutters. A few with screens, most without. They don't work well, don't close 100% (more like 70%), so bugs come and go. Couldn't stand the gnats inside and out. They were in your ears, eyes, on your food, etc. horrible. No way to keep them out of the house. ELECTRICITY: This is the first home we've rented where the owner monitored your electric use. You get a quata! You are not encouraged to use the air conditioning. The only air conditioning is in your bedroom. But, the shutters don't close, so the air works hard... cooling the great outdoors.. It was 90 degrees and humid out.. How do we not use the air??? If you go over your quota, you will be charged! Location: The resort down the street had great food. But that's it. Nothing else even close. You will drive 20+ minutes to find anything. The home itself is nothing fancy, higher-end, etc. It's basic, fairly run down. Lot's of large spiders, bugs and something that would enter at night and poop all over.. The pool is not heated. It was freezing! We didn't use it. Oh, please make sure you cover all drains with a wet cloth or you get a stinky sewer odor.. it was bad! The house is very close to the neighbors. The pool is within feet of the next home. The neighbors were partying and very loud. Not a private place! Crime: We were warned to lock up everything... the grounds are not sure. No fence, gates, etc. we had a few maintenance men come walking right around the house and surprised my wife. Not a good feeling. Safety: The main staircase going upstairs is very short and made of slippery tile. I hit my head on the ceiling which is very low at the beginning of the stairs. There is no railing! Very dangerous for kids. Overall. If you want a nicer upscale home, windows, screens, bug control, private, safe, etc. pass on this one! If you are on a very tight budget, have a big family, don't mind the bugs, then this place might be just fine. With the great reviews, apparently we just rented the wrong place, and there are plenty of people who enjoyed it just fine.

Absolutely breathtaking!

This property was just gorgeous! It is in the Coral Estates, which is about a half hour from Willemstad, but worth the drive. Linda Lou was super responsive and provided tons of information. The house was clean, the setup worked really well, the pool was perfect, and the views really were breathtaking. This property was also conveniently located within walking distance to two yummy restaurants. If you rent this property, note that the upstairs rooms only had one USA adapter between them and you'll need bug spray (we did leave some behind).

Vacation in Paradise

The house was incredible and even more than we expected. The large, spacious, beautiful rooms and breathtaking outdoor areas made it hard to get out and see the rest of the island. We were able to jump in the ocean right off the deck and snorkel to the resort beach on a daily basis. This is some of the best snorkeling we have done in years with a huge variety of beautiful fish and live corral. The house was spotless with all of the necessities for great outdoor barbecues and family games in the evening. The location offers total privacy or if you want to get dinner and a drink you can just pop over to the resort, a 5 minute walk. The location is ideal as it is only 20 minutes to Willemstad and 20 minutes to the private beaches farther West. This was the best vacation we have had in years and we will definitely be back!!!

Wonderful Family Trip

We recently returned from a lovely spring break trip. We were a group of 7, two kids 8 and 10. The outside of the property is what made us rent Villa Seashell. It will not disappoint. The outdoor gazebo, pool and patio area are lovely and private. We felt that the pictures posted by Linda represented the home well. Here are a few things that perspective renters should keep in mind: -Not all windows have screens. This is not a huge deal, but it did make for some buggy evenings indoors. We played Monopoly one night at the indoor dining table, and bugs kept flying in. -There is no cable. There is only one tv. It can connect to Netflix and your tablet. We knew this upfront, so can't really complain. However, we did find that we missed having regular cable news and we also missed being able watch the television from bed. -The wifi is pretty good. Sometimes got a little slow, but overall was adequate. Kids were able to stream from their tablets. Also, wifi worked well in gazebo! -The house is DIM! I like bright lights, especially at night. Could be romantic for some, but I found it a bit annoying, especially in the evenings. We are a family that enjoys reading before bed, and the light was too dim. To the owner's credit, her property manage, Petra, did try to help, and obtained some brighter lamps for our kids' room after we complained. Better, but still not great. -No doors on the upstairs bedroom bathrooms. We are a private family, so didn't like this much. Just be aware. -Remote location. Again, we knew this going in. However, we found that we had to drive 20-30 minutes to get to restaurants, other beaches, etc. Kind of a hassle after a long day of touring. The last thing you want to do is drive on dark, perilous roads for 20 minutes to go get takeout! There is a nice restaurant on the resort, Karakter. But if you want more variety, you'll be taking a ride. -Tired furniture. The sofa and dining table/chairs in the living room are nearing the end of their shelf life. Ditto the furniture in the downstairs bedrooms. Cushions on pool loungers would be nice. Also, there was a large nasty stain of some sort on the side of one of the twin bed mattresses downstairs. I made the owner aware, but it was not fixed during our stay. It grossed my kids out. And me too. There are also some wall scuffs and areas that could stand a deep cleaning/repainting. Overall a good rental. In need of some TLC. Views beyond compare

Just sit back and relax

Had a few minor setbacks when arrived but between Linda and Petra, resolved immediately. No neighbors, nothing to do when at home but to sit by the pool, or lounge in a hammock and read a book. Most relaxing vacation I have had in 40 years. Every morning opening the house wide up, sitting on deck watching the ocean nothing better. Fun ledges to perch on and watch the fish and the sunset. Walk to beach, restaurants, but check out Daniels and E Lanternu as both local and great restaurants. Villa Seashell is a great place to forget reality, if only for a week!

Warm sunny days and ocean breezes - WONDERFUL & RELAXING

We arrived on a warm sunny day and were met by Petra, the property manager, who was very friendly and showed as around the villa. We spent 3 weeks snorkeling, enjoying the ocean views, swimming in the pool, relaxing in the gazebo (where my granddaughter loved swinging in the hammock). We had a private Chef Evelien who came and prepared dinner for us - which was great. We would do this again. We dined out but also cooked in and ate out on the porch overlooking the ocean (so peaceful). We went for walks around the area (day & night) and felt very safe. The location was great for going to the beaches at the west end and close to Punda & Otrobanda for seeing the Floating Bridge, shopping and dining. As we came and left we talked with the front gate security guys who were very friendly and gave a few hints of things to do. Linda Lou has a great blog, which we referred to many times. We would definitely go back to Villa Seashell (after 12 years of traveling in the Caribbean - Villas Seashell was the best villa we have rented). An amazing place to vacation. Thank you Linda Lou

Beautiful and relaxation plus

A lovely, safe gated community right on the ocean. Gorgeous sunsets and great star gazing at night by the pool. We hired a chef for our dinners and she was simply fantastic and made this a truly memorable experience. Her food and personality were exceptional.

Geweldig verblijf in villa Seashell.

De grootste troef van deze villa : de oceanview! We hadden een fantastisch verblijf in villa Saeshell. Het huis was voldoende ruim en zeer goed ingericht. We hebben niks gemist. Qua ligging ietwat afgelegen maar ook dat heeft zijn voordelen nl. rust. We voelden ons ook zeer veilig door de ligging in Royal Estate. De communicatie met Linda Lou verliep altijd zeer vlot en zeer accuraat. Zelden meegemaakt. Dus complimenten voor de eigenares. We hebben ook héél veel tips opgedaan uit het op de website gepubliceerde informatieboek. Zéér interessant! Verder werden we ter plaatste ook héél fijn opgevangen door Petra. Zij was ook steeds bereikbaar voor al onze vragen. Samenvattend : absolute aanrader.

Beautiful, Relaxing Environment with some of best views in Curacao

When researching Caribbean vacation locales, I settled on Curacao in part because of everything I read about Villa Seashell. It did not disappoint! The home, gazebo and pool are just as pictured and are in a private, gated neighborhood with security. I have booked many vacations through VRBO/HomeAway, but Linda Lou was by far the most responsive and informative host I have had. The many blogs and information packets she provided are essential in getting around Curacao and making the best use of time on the island. We were pleased with several of the restaurant suggestions and chose which beaches to visit based on the detailed descriptions of each. There is a fair amount of driving to get to the various beaches and other attractions, but after touring some of the busier areas of town we were always grateful to come back to the tranquility of Villa Seashell. As many previous reviews note, the best part of the day was always sitting on the back porch or gazebo each evening enjoying the ocean breeze and beautiful scenery. Our family of 6 thoroughly enjoyed this home!

Great vacation on an awesome island at a beautiful villa!

We LOVED our 10 days in Curacao and Villa Seashell made it a perfect getaway! The house was super-clean and had everything we needed. We did not spend as much time in the "gazebo" as we anticipated, but the little deck over the sea was the perfect place to watch beautiful sunsets! Don't miss that opportunity!
