I had high expectations for the Royalton Chic Antigua, but unfortunately, my experience was overwhelmingly disappointing. From the moment I arrived, the service fell far below acceptable standards for a resort of this caliber.
Despite arriving before 3 PM, I was not given access to my room until after 4:30 PM with no real explanation or apology. This was just the beginning of a series of frustrating issues.
The food was average at best—nothing special and certainly not what you'd expect from a luxury resort. Room service was incredibly slow, often taking an unreasonably long time to arrive. The minibar was barely replenished and only if you made a specific request, which became tiresome. Housekeeping didn’t happen unless I asked for it directly, which is unacceptable for a resort that claims to offer premium service.
Another major issue was the constant presence of mosquitoes everywhere, which made it very difficult to relax comfortably, especially in the evenings.
To top it off, despite all the delays and slow service during the stay, the hotel seemed overly eager to push me out on the final day. I received multiple calls and knocks on the door regarding my checkout—when I was leaving, who was collecting my bags, etc. It felt rushed and even harassing.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. For the price and promise of a premium experience, the lack of basic hospitality and attention to guest comfort was incredibly disappointing.
