An unwelcome surprise awaited us...
I wish I could express only positive feedback about this stay. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives in this situation.This is an honest and straightforward review of our recent experience staying at this place. I want to inform other guests about what they need to consider before booking their trip.The place is well-maintained, located near the beach, and the host was very responsive.The Negative Aspects:We arrived on Sunday afternoon after a 24-hour trip. Since our home time zone is four hours behind St. Barthélemy, we were exhausted. While we were trying to catch up on sleep and recover from jet lag, we were abruptly awakened on Monday at 7 a.m. (which felt like 3 a.m. to our bodies) by loud construction work on the street above the house.They were breaking open the ground with a jackhammer and moving heavy machines. This repeated every day from 7am to 5pm, including Saturday! Sunday was our last day of stay, the only day there was no construction.We tried to stay outside the house as much as possible, but we still had to wake up early and eat breakfast amidst heavy construction noises. We definitely didn't have the quiet and relaxed experience that was advertised.The host claimed that the construction work was beyond her control. However, the property owners were aware of the ongoing public construction, and a brief visit to the site during the week before our stay would have clarified the situation.
