The guests will have the entire unit as well as the deck outside available with access. There is one central staircase that is shared with neighboring units to access the front door.

Tucked along the southwestern shores of Mount Desert Island, Southwest Harbor is a charming fishing village known for its working waterfront, stunning harbor views, and laid-back atmosphere. Often considered the quieter counterpart to Bar Harbor, this coastal town offers a more relaxed and authentic Maine experience while still providing easy access to Acadia National Park.

Home to a thriving boatbuilding industry, Southwest Harbor boasts a strong maritime heritage, with local shipyards crafting some of the finest yachts in the world. The town’s picturesque harbor is dotted with lobster boats, sailboats, and waterfront restaurants serving up fresh-caught seafood.

Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to explore, from the scenic trails of Western Mountain and Beech Cliffs to the serene beauty of Seawall and Echo Lake. The town also serves as a gateway to Great Cranberry and Little Cranberry Islands, accessible by ferry for those looking to explore Maine’s rugged offshore beauty.

This unit is on the 3rd floor and is in a building that does not have an elevator. You will need to climb stairs to access this unit.

Please note that this building was built in 1920 and has limited insulation causing noise to sometimes pass easily through the units. This can come from neighboring units as well as noise from the street. There is a noise machine in each bedroom as well as earplugs if you are sensitive to noise when you sleep. The roadway next to the building is Maine State Route 102 that has traffic passing through at all hours, speed limit on the road is 30MPH. The amount of noise you may encounter can very depending on the road traffic, and how respectful neighbors are during your stay. If a guest does experience any excessive noise from neighbors they are able to reach out to me and I can help resolve the issue. The entire building observes a quiet time between 10:00PM-8:00AM which includes running your laundry as to not disturb the neighbors.
-Please note that you must be out of the Unit by 10:15AM the LATEST. You will receive a $150 fee if you are out of the unit later than 10:15AM and will be charged an additional $50 for every 15minute interval that you are late after that. We have had problems with guests leaving late in the past and need to make sure that our cleaning team has enough time to properly clean the unit before the next guests arrive.
-This building observes quiet time from 10:00PM-8:00AM and you are not allowed to make excessive noise or run the washer/dryer during those hours because of the noise it makes. This building is over 100+ years old and the walls are thinner than modern walls
-No pets are allowed in the unit. You will be charged a $400 Pet Fee if you are caught with a pet in the unit
-No parties or events are allowed in the unit. You will immediately be kicked out of the unit if you hold an event at the unit and will be charged a $1,000 fee

Nice clean apartment, pretty - actually very loud

The apartment is very clean, well-equipped and has enough space to feel comfortable. Only problem: it is quite noisy. The road next to the property is very busy, cars and trucks pass almost permanently by from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. The provided earplugs are a nice gesture and very necessary. The house is not very sound-proof, every step of the people upstairs can/must always be heard.

Sea glass was just what we needed. Great proximity to Acadia, clean and comfortable. It’s true what the reviews said, since it’s on a main road, it’s quite loud. Bedrooms are on the front of the house so the sound machine and earplugs are a great and thoughtful addition. Would recommend to others!

Perfect accommodation for Families

We chose Southwest Harbor for our birthday weekend getaway. This apartment is exactly what the photos show. The view from the living area is beautiful and the kitchen is very well stocked. Communication with the host before arrival was very smooth. We appreciated the quiet hours since noise does travel in the building. The location was better than expected- close to the restaurants and shops in the town.

Nice unit - but road noise is significant

The listing does make the noise issue clear and they have made every reasonable effort to manage. But if you are noise-sensitive, you probably should look at a different property. Otherwise, we found the unit very nice. It's a bit more of a hike to get to the main Acadia attractions than we anticipated. But that's on us for not researching more carefully.

The property is as advertised,clean,nicely furnished,great location with easy access to park,nice view and near some nice places to eat. However, it's a little pricey(looking at total cost to include cleaning, tax,commission) as it does sit on a busy highway which can be a little noisy and we stayed on the 2nd floor and there isn't much in sound proof with the third floor.

Came for Acadia NP

This was our first time visit to Desert Island, Southwest Harbor and Acadia NP. The apartment was nice, had all the kitchen equipment we needed for 4 adults. The town was beautiful with great seafood restaurants. Regarding the accommodation, the second bedroom with the bunk bed was not the most comfortable for a 4 night stay for 2 adults and the noise level at night in both bedrooms is pretty high. They provide ear plugs, but you can still hear the traffic on the street and all the movement at the neighbors. Overall was a good stay.

Great location to Acadia

Neat place with nice updates. Be aware that restaurants and grocery stores close early so plan ahead! Good to stay if you need a good spot to light while you are out and about in the beautiful outdoors nearby. Had everything we needed and host was responsive and accommodating.
