Our stay at Gull's rest couldn't have been better. The location is somewhat out of the way, but that's part of the beauty of Christmas Cove. In return, you get amazing views of both the open ocean on one side and the cove itself on the other; and you can see both views at the same time from the second floor deck, which isn't to be confused with the second deck that sits even closer to the ocean. We've stayed a number of places in the area, and the views here are easily the best that we've encountered.
Above and beyond the views, which really are amazing, the house itself is beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. Downstairs, the house is broken up into a front mud room (comfortable, great views), the maint living room (centered around the working fire place, which is perfect for those colder Maine evenings), the kitchen (not super fancy, but nice and functional), and an absolutely stunning dining room with sweeping views of the ocean. There is also a nice bedroom on the main floor with great views and its own restored bathroom. Upstairs, the large master bedroom has a giant wall of windows looking out on the water and a separate sitting area. There are also two smaller bedrooms upstairs, one of which is off of the second floor deck mentioned above.
Finally, although we didn't need it, there is a nice separate apartment off of the basement.
