There were five of us exploring the Central Coast from San Francisco. We decided to stay in Solvang for one night, so we booked this hotel. I must say the two rooms were generously sized. However, the reception area was dark and dreary. The front desk personnel was receptive after we found only double beds in the rooms by delivering a roll away bed. The rooms were relatively clean, but in desperate need of updating and general upkeep. The outdoor carpeting was worn, old, and needed replacing. The wood on the outdoor patio posts was chipped, and looked unsafe. The bed was soft and lumpy. One of the bathrooms lacked hot water and the shower water did not drain. There was also obvious mold in one bathroom. Several items were inoperable, i.e. microwave stand drawer and iron. The morning pastries tasted old and stale. At checkout my concerns were not well received by the front desk personnel. Overall, our experiences at this property were poor. We just expected more for our money.
