Stunning Oceanfront Retreat on California’s Lost Coast
Hot Tub • Redwood Deck • Game Room • Dog-Friendly • Perfect Fly-In Destination
Escape to the wild beauty of Shelter Cove and experience the magic of California’s Lost Coast
from this stunning oceanfront home. Perched above the sea, with the Pacific stretching endlessly
before you, waves crashing below, and wide-open sky above, this is a place where nature takes
center stage. The views are expansive, the setting is peaceful, and experiencing the many
rhythms of the ocean is truly amazing.
From the moment you arrive, you are surrounded by the sights and sounds of the sea. Watch the
waves roll in from the redwood deck, breathe in the fresh ocean air from the lawn, and end the
day soaking in the hot tub as the sun drops to the horizon. Whether the ocean is calm and glassy
or putting on a dramatic show, the ever-changing coastal scene makes every day here feel
special.
Outdoor Living by the Sea
The home’s outdoor spaces are designed to let you fully enjoy its extraordinary setting. Set on
two oceanfront lots, the property offers an unusual sense of space and openness by the sea. The
beautiful redwood deck offers sweeping ocean views and plenty of room to gather, with a
pergola, heaters to keep you warm, and a large Amish oak table for dining, conversation, and
sunset cocktails by the sea.
The multi-colored slate patio is a wonderful place for yoga, lounging in the sun, or simply
relaxing with a cup of coffee while listening to the waves. The broad oceanfront lawn gives you
extra room to spread out and soak in the beauty of the coastline. Stretch out on the chaise
lounges, enjoy the fresh ocean breeze, or fire up the top-notch gas grill for a little outdoor BBQ
action. There’s even a washer and dryer for those who enjoy doing laundry.
Spacious, Comfortable, and Fun
Inside, the home is warm, inviting, and well equipped for a memorable stay. The kitchen has
everything you need for easy meals and relaxed breakfasts, including a coffee maker, blender,
toaster, and waffle maker.
The upstairs living room is spacious yet cozy, with a fireplace, plush blankets, TV, books, board
games, and puzzles. It is the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring the coast. The two-
level layout is especially nice for families and groups, with a large downstairs family room that
gives kids and teens their own place to hang out and play while adults enjoy the upstairs living
space.
There is also plenty here for fun and entertainment, including:
• Ping-pong table
• Full-size shuffleboard table
• Corn hole boards on the lawn
• Four bicycles with helmets
• Super-fast Starlink internet
• PlayStation 5 for gamers
And because the best vacations include the whole family, the home is dog-friendly too.
Experience the Lost Coast
Shelter Cove is one of California’s most scenic and unspoiled coastal destinations. Tide pools,
dramatic bluffs, open beaches, and breathtaking ocean views are all nearby. Spend your days
beachcombing, whale watching, or simply enjoying the remarkable beauty of the coastline.
For those looking for adventure, the area also offers world class surfing, along with fishing,
kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, a nearby boat launch, and access to the stunning trails of the
King Range.
Black Sands Beach is a favorite local destination and one of the area’s most striking natural
attractions. This dramatic stretch of true black sand is perfect for picnicking, walking the
shoreline, and watching the waves explode onto the beach on big days. While it is often unsafe
for swimming, it is absolutely worth visiting for the stunning scenery alone.
For a longer outing, take an afternoon drive to Humboldt Redwoods State Park and explore the
lush fern forests and towering ancient redwoods along the Avenue of the Giants.
Flying In
This is a perfect fly-in destination. The home is just a 5-minute walk from the north end of
Runway 34, where there are several seldom-used tie-down spots.
The home’s bikes, along with local rental e-bikes, make it easy to get around. If you would prefer
to rent a car, let our host Angie know and we will see if we can help line one up for you.
There are no instrument approaches, and fog can be capricious, so it is wise to have a few
options in mind. We are also developing a Shelter Cove Pilot Guide to share some of the local
tips and practical hints that those of us who fly in regularly have learned over time.
Why Guests Love It
Guests love this home for its rare combination of comfort, beauty, and location. With sweeping
Pacific views, inviting indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, nearby beaches and trails, it is an
ideal place for a peaceful retreat, outdoor adventure, or amazing family and friend vacation.
