I travel to El Salvador frequently and always spend time at this resort—five times in the last year alone. My stays are usually excellent, except for one issue. The front desk staff isn't as helpful as they should be. It's often a language barrier; I don't speak much Spanish, and they don't speak any English. I understand the situation and I’m not trying to change anything, but my wife is Salvadoran and speaks perfect Spanish, yet they still struggle to provide answers to our questions.
On this occasion, I booked a superior room because we loved it during our last stay. When we reserved the room, we had the option of one large king bed or two double beds. Naturally, we chose the large king bed. However, when we opened the door, we found two double beds instead.
We tried calling the front desk from our room phone, but it took over 35 minutes to reach anyone. When we finally got through, they were not helpful. All we wanted was to switch to a king bed, but they didn't understand our request, even after my wife tried to explain. After another 30 minutes on the phone with them, we finally gave up. We ended up pushing the beds together and continued with our vacation.
In the grand scheme of things, it was a minor issue, but considering the amount of money we paid, having a front desk crew that struggles with simple requests is a bit concerning. While it won’t affect my decision to return since we like the resort, if it had been our first visit, it likely would have been our last.
