2/10
I did not realize that a 250 charge would be broken into multiple payments when booked just 3 weeks before the trip. With a few days to go, I checked in and saw I had nothing booked (?) I dug deeper and found that I still owed money on it. That's my fault for not paying attention, It didn't occur to me that when I received the "you're all set!" message, that I wasn't all set, nor paid in full.I corrected it and paid the last part, and while my bank account showed the money went through, I had no trip on my board. This was Tuesday before a Saturday night stay. You cannot contact anyone at VRBO about your trip if they don't have it on your trip board. I contacted the owner, who was decent about it, and said it looks like it was all sorted out, but it did not show anything on my end. With 3 days to go...nothing. With 2 days to go... nothing. The morning of my last day before the trip...nothing. So I emailed the owner and said I was going to cancel rather than get there and find I had nowhere to stay (I paid their extra tax in the event that I had to cancel for any reason). I was told that it would not be possible to cancel, I would be charged anyway. I called and booked a motel room, they took my payment in full, all was well with the hotel. At 4:00 Saturday pm VRBO sent me the message with the combination to get inside, and it was showing on my trip board.Maybe I should have just rolled with it, and trusted the property owner? I had nobody at VRBO to talk to.
