Charming Beach Cottage Steps to Sand + Bikes & A/C

This cozy beach cottage is located just footsteps from the sand in Mission Beach. Walk 2 minutes to the bay or ocean. Features 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, spacious living room with a sofa bed, fully supplied kitchen, outdoor patio with gas BBQ. It includes air conditioning and parking, both a rare luxury in this area. Also included are two beach cruiser bicycles, beach towels, beach chairs, beach umbrella, sand toys & boogie boards. Ideal space for 2 to 4 people.

Janet & Scott are your hosts. We are a husband and wife team and we live nearby. We own and operate Mission Beach Villas, a highly rated vacation rental management business in San Diego.

We are available 7 am to 10 pm to answer questions during your stay.

Our storefront rental office, Mission Beach Villas, is a mile away as well, so if you need anything feel free to stop by! If you have an early flight, you may stow your luggage at our office so you can go to lunch or hang out on the beach until check-in time. And if you have an afternoon flight on checkout day you may also stow luggage. Just coordinate these details with us and we are happy to accommodate. Please note, we charge a small nominal fee for luggage storage.

Before your stay, we are happy to suggest our favorite restaurants, and tourist attractions and will help you get acquainted with the area.

The best thing about the neighborhood is that there is so much within walking distance you may not need a car. You could just take a taxi from the airport (6 miles away), get dropped off here and you're at the beach! We have local restaurants, trendy beach bars, excellent coffee spots, and breakfasts cafes all within a few short blocks. Sea World is just 3 miles away.

The location is the best spot of all of Mission Beach. It is on the south side of Santa Clara Place (the only traffic light in North Mission Beach), which means a non commercial area. It is far enough (1 mile) north of the roller coaster area so it's very removed from the tourist noise. It is off of the main boulevard and on one of the tiny inner courts with friendly neighbors and a quiet homey atmosphere.

Recreational opportunities abound. The beach cottage is within walking distance to Santa Clara point where there are numerous recreation activities and rentals available including: stand up paddle boards, kayaks, jet skis, windsurfing, catamarans, sail boats, water ski boats, and even jet packs. There are group classes and private lessons available in all of these activities. What's more there are free yoga classes on the beach each day at the end of our court.

It is equally centered between Belmont Park (the roller coaster area) and Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach, which are both 1 mile away, making this location accessible to the action if that's what you want.

There is a fantastic surf spot at the beach for beginner to advanced surfers and great for spectators as well. There are affordable surf lessons offered daily on the beach by our friends at Surfari Surf School. What's more, we can point you to all the best surf spots in San Diego County. And we have two world class board shapers who live on our court in case you want to get a new surf board while you are here.

We offer keyless digital entry for this cottage. There are no keys to lose, just a simple 4 digit passcode to remember.

Included with the rental is the use of boogie boards, beach towels, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, sand toys for the kids, and the use of two beach cruiser bikes. We supply a combination bike lock and two bike helmets. The bikes are bit rusty from the ocean breeze but they are great for cruising on the boardwalk. And you'll look like a true local on them. If you need more bikes or kid bikes there is a rental shop just a 3 minute walk away that has very affordable daily rental rates.

If you bring a car there is a dedicated parking space on site in the alley behind the garage. Keep in mind that the space will accommodate only a compact to mid sized car. A mini van or compact SUV might fit but anything larger will need to park on the street. (Please let us know in advance if you are bringing a car.)

If you don't bring a car you will be fine. Many guests come without one and get around quite easily. Restaurants, shops and convenience stores are within walking distance.

It is less than a 10-15 minute walk to Belmont Park where there is a giant roller coaster, rides, restaurants, bars, and shops.

Uber/Lyft options are readily available for local transport at an affordable rate. If you've never used this service before download the phone app and you may find a discount code for first-time riders online.

Riding bikes along the boardwalk is usually the most scenic way to get around and take in the atmosphere. We provide 2 beach cruiser bicycles. But if you need any more or a child seat or child bike there is a rental shop called "Cheap Rentals" just 2 blocks away that rents by the hour, day, or the week. They also rent surfboards, wetsuits, standup paddle boards and a lot of other fun beach equipment.

There is also a bus stop a few yards away that travels down Mission Blvd and will take you to Old Town in minutes. At Old Town there is a major transportation hub where you can transfer to any other bus line or transfer to the Trolley (San Diego's metro line) which will take you downtown.
