First, the rooms are really nice, the staff super friendly and very keen, the pool is great.
But the zoo is just awful and an absolute animal cruelty.
Animals with stereotypical behavior (recurring behaviors turn circles, up and down..), extremely dirty cages, dirty water.
Far too small cages, rabbits on lattice floor, hardly any food, donkeys unkempt hooves, parrot with trimmed feathers.
A meerkat was kept alone.

Kein Parkmöglichkeit beim Hotel. Wir mussten 5-10 min. Fussweg weg parkieren.
Frühstücksbuffet war sehr klein/ hatten kaum auswahl
Die Madratze war sehr durchgelegen und unbequem.
Das Zimmer war nicht sauber( sehr viel staub, im badezimmer kalk und sonstige flecken)“

The peacefulness of the location just right at the river was another magical experience. Perfect to swim in the lake, paddle, or even for a boat ride.
Tomar or Coimbra is just 30 min drive and provides the option for a nice day trip.
