„We had a wonderful stay at the shepards hut. The heating and lights had been put on reasy for our arrival as we were later than the check in time . Carol the owner had messaged me earlier in the day with directions which was a nice welcome. She had also given us a lovely recommendation for somewhere to eat that evening. „We had a lovely short stay at The Feathers. The room was lovely, with an amazing bathtub and, best of all, AIR CONDITIONING, which we really appreciated as it was unusually hot during our visit.
The room was also very quiet at night - we heard hardly anything from the pub. I recommend the pub itself too, lovely decor and very friendly staff.
We would definitely stay there again, and absolutely recommend it to other travellers.

„The hotel was okay. There was just one thing. I'm not saying that I'm small but far from overly fat, however could not manage to sit on the toilet comfortably. The toilet is squeezed into the corner and to make matters worse the toilet paper rolls are fixed to the wall that is already too close.“

We had a lovely welcome on arrival, and the room was clean and functional. Yes, it’s dated and parts are not ideal but the owner is obviously trying to improve as and when they can and responds to all feedback positively.
I think the descriptions of the rooms etc could do to be improved just for clarity, but it’s a minor issue.

"A typical older Victorian hotel, but better than expected at that price! We had a superior twin, which was on the second floor and had a great view through two large windows of the promenade and the sea. The room was big, the beds were comfortable, linen and towels were all new and the room was always clean, plenty of coffee and tea in the room, and all the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. We are a small misunderstanding when checking in which was quickly rectified. Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet and fried or poached eggs on demand. The coffee was good and the bar was nice too.

"The hotel is situated in a beautiful area. The small village has 1 or 2 dinner possibilities around the market place and is charming - at least the center is. The hotel could use a lick of paint here ant there and you see that the owners do their best, but the castle is very large and surely there is much to do. They have tried to connect modernity and antique, of which I like the latter more. I visited the fitness studio, which was ok. There is a restaurant in the hotel with good food and cool beer. Be prepared to meet sheep lingering outside when you walk to your car. When we were there, there were enough parking spaced."
