Enjoy the NEW 80' PIER & DECK!! Take in the incredible views - you won't want to miss the sunrise! Enjoy the firepit and make s'mores down by the water! Shallow water shoreline - bring your fishing poles, canoe, or kayak! A public boat launch is just a few miles down the road too. Explore historic Port Royal, Virginia. Enjoy nature walks and keep an eye out for some of the resident animals – this area is a sanctuary for bald eagles! Yummy eats at the last of the original Horne’s diners, and a number of other local restaurants nearby.

Enjoy the tranquility of the Rappahannock River and the quiet of nature. Relax in the Adirondack chairs and watch the river go by. Bring binoculars for bird-watching from the large patio or down by the water on the new deck. Experience amazing sunrises, or watch the sunset bounce off the water in the evenings. Perfect spot away from the city light pollution for star-gazing.

Pleasing driftwood displays, cute and practical cottage & TV/rec room (crabshack). Super river view! Enjoyed the kayak experience though the descent to the water was doable for me but more than my wife’s bum knee could take. She was happy at the patio overlook & crabshack. We enjoyed the weekend getaway 9/5-9/7 and want to return, especially if can catch a pleasant snowfall.

Beautiful river views with eagles

Absolutely loved our stay here. It's a cozy bungalow right on the river. We enjoyed watching the water flow by while eagles soared overhead. We took the peddle boat for a short excursion to see more of the river. We enjoyed dinner at a couple restaurants in Port Royal and made short day trips to Colonial Beach and Tappahannock. As stated in the description, there's no stove and you need to bring your own towels/linens. I'd encourage guests to think of this a little like "glamping," and you'll have a great time.

Nice little cottage by the river

The cottage was cute and well appointed. The Crab Shack was an added plus. The only thing we did not like was the security cameras. While I understand the need for security, the cameras were pointed at areas where one would hang out, giving the impression that we were being watched even if we weren’t.

We had a wonderful stay!

We sought a relaxing getaway and found ourselves in an extremely picturesque environment. While the weather cooperated beautifully for us the entire stay, the ease of working with the host and their gracious gifts of hospitality and privacy rounded out a very special experience. The cottage is self-contained and small but intimate and perfect for a twosome. I can highly recommend this property and these hosts!

Had a great time . Area is so peaceful. If you like quiet areas an nature this is for you . Tons of different birds to watch very quiet river not many boats got to enjoy watching fish jumping out of the river all day . Great stay!

The cottage was small and sweet; great view at river's edge. LOTS of bugs attracted to lights at night, and door hard to close, but otherwise good location easy enough drive to places of interest. Loved the access to extra room at Crab Shack room! Port Royal is cute tiny town with interesting history. Would recommend and return!

Peaceful getaway

After a hectic schedule, it was wonderful to retreat to this peaceful property right on the river. We enjoyed going down to the river, sitting or watching TV in the A/C in the Crab Shack, and exploring the restaurants and shops in nearby Port Royal.

Anniversary getaway

This is the cutest little cottage off the lake. It is definitely a serene, quiet area. We brought our inflatable paddle boards and enjoyed paddling along the lake. My husband also enjoyed fishing. It was a great break from our busy lives for a few days. The cottage is very clean and nicely updated.
