We enjoyed a fortnight in this cute and well-equipped house. Obviously, this house, which has a rustic feel to it, does not have the layout of a modern house, but the three children and we two adults had more than enough space. The house is nicely located to explore the region. For example, the mountain village Peillon is only a short drive away and worth a visit. The secluded location means that it’s very quiet most of the time; we got used to dogs barking at night and cocks announcing dawn. The beautiful garden is spacious and it was used for reading, playing or just taking in the different fragrances. Almost every day we would help ourselves to some of the herbs (lemon balm, basil, oregano, etc.) growing in the garden to give our food a local flavour. Typically, we would use the beach in Villefranche; it’s only 10-15 minutes by car ‘over the hill’ (it takes a little longer through La Trinite). Parking right on the beach is not even €2 per hour. On this note, the steep and narrow street to and from the house should appeal to adventurous drivers. We had rented a mid-size car (Renault Scenic) which at times felt a little too big for the challenging local roads. A smaller car might be advisable. The deposit was returned in full on our last day. As mentioned elsewhere, the house is not equipped with Internet, although it says so in the house description. This was rather unfortunate because some people expect to be able to do some work during their holidays, and it meant the children couldn’t stay in touch with friends. This issue aside, we would really recommend this house.
