Das Ferienhaus liegt im Herzen von Manaton, einem kleinen Dorf in der Nähe der Städte Moretonhampstead und Bovey Tracey. Das Cottage besteht aus 2 Doppelzimmern und 1 Einzelzimmer mit angeschlossener Toilette. Das Anwesen verfügt über ein neu installiertes Badezimmer und ein Duschbad sowie eine Wohnküche, die auf die Gartenterrasse führt. Das Herzstück der Hütte ist ein atemberaubendes Wohnzimmer mit Inglenook und Holzofen. Das Haus ist gut ausgestattet mit WLAN, TV / DVD, Waschmaschine / Trockner und Geschirrspüler, um Ihren Urlaub zu einem Erlebnis wie zu Hause zu machen. Außerhalb des Hauses befindet sich ein großzügiger Garten mit einem sicherheitsüberdachten Teich und einer Terrasse, auf der Sie im Sommer grillen können. Das Haus selbst bietet einen Blick vom ersten Stock auf die Landschaft von Dartmoor. Was gibt es Schöneres, als den Tag bei einer Tasse Tee zu beginnen und die umliegende Landschaft zu betrachten. Outdoor holiday in Managon (August 2023)

Holidays on Dartmoor are best done in just such a cottage ... picturesque, lovingly restored and still equipped with all modern conveniences (smart TV, Internet, modern kitchen, bathrooms, ...). We would like to express our compliments as follows: whenever we had reached the turning point of our day's hike, one of us said: "... wonderful and now we're going home". Tolles Cottage!

Toll ausgestattetes Cottage. Wir waren schon mehrfach da und kommen sicher wieder. Diesmal kam das Schneechaos am Abreisetag - die Vermieterin ließ uns ohne weitere Kosten bleiben, bis die Straßen aus dem Moor wieder frei waren. Und was nicht zu unterschätzen ist: schönes Pub ein paar Häuser weiter.

A super getaway location

Two worlds meet in this historic cottage. The old cottage hardly has a straight line in it while the bathrooms and kitchen are bang up to date with everything you need. No mobile telephone service in the valley but excellent internet in the cottage (with a landline if you need it). The fireplace is impressive but tall people may be challenged by the low roof beams. We had an excellent Sunday lunch in the local pub which is three mins away. I recommend the cider. Lots of public footpaths nearby too.

Lovely characterful cottage

Comfortable and everything we needed. Plenty of meals outside in the garden. Great walks. My friend is tall and had to be very careful not to bang her head on the low beams Which was a problem until she got used to it! Overall a great day, would recommend

Enjoyable Christmas

Lovely warm cosy cottage; welcoming bottle of wine, mince pies and wood for the fire. Despite the weather we were able to enjoy the excellent nearby walks and company at the Kestor Inn, a couple of minutes walk away. The kitchen was generally well appointed; adequate cutlery and dishes were provided but some of the cooking utensils were in need of replacement and the provision of oven gloves would have been welcomed.

The cottage is well equipped and very cosy with a pretty, seluded garden. It is a dog friendly house in an area that is great for dog walking. No problem recommending this cottage.

Quiet get away from modern life

The cottage is very well equipped, esp the kitchen - a cook’s delight. The shower was great and the hot water instant! It’s a small cottage and very intimate. Freelands is quite remote, 3 miles into the moor down single track roads. Make sure you have the key-box code because there’s no phone signal so no access to the internet! The WiFi in the cottage was poor, very slow and kept stopping, it’ll not stream a movie for example. It’s clearly a place where dogs have often been (not being a dog-owner you notice). A neighbour has a generator running. You don’t notice it in the day so much, but in the still of the night, can be quite noticeable. And trying to understand the recycle/refuse bins are traumatising! I t was sweet of Melanie to leave welcoming cake, and a very welcoming bottle of wine - thank you. She was also kind enough to telephone soon after arrival to make sure everything was hunky-dory! If you want remote, relaxing and be away from the modern world and take long walks with your dog. This is the ideal place.

Gorgeous quaint cottage, spotlessly clean with well stocked newly fitted kitchen, utility with shower and WC and bathroom, pretty garden and very very comfortable beds in all 3 bedrooms. Very well maintained. Had a lovely comfortable stay.

Amazing stay in a lovely cottage

The cottage is very well-equipped and spotlessly clean, very functional with 2 bathrooms, a lovely enclosed garden (perfect for our young dog) and basic supplies such as tea/coffee, washing-up liquid etc. The area is wonderfully quiet and picturesque, but you need to be a confident driver to manage the very narrow roads - and the nearest town is a good 15-minute drive away

Lovely, peaceful and very well equipped

We had a lovely stay here, everything you could need in the lovely, well equipped cottage kitchen. Access to the garden via the kitchen was idea for outdoor dining. Owners, Melanie and Phillip were wonderful - we had a quick call on arrival evening just to make sure we gained access okay. We would definitely stay there again!

Christmas in the cottage

My sister and I were so happy and comfortable in this beautiful cottage. We truly had a peaceful and restful Christmas, with everything we could possibly need. We slept like logs in the gloriously cosy beds, especially after a day out on the moors. Everything about the cottage was perfect, from the fabulous log burner to the superbly functional charm of the kitchen. We were joined by one of our brothers, who lives in Plymouth, which is where we all grew up. Needless to say, we took the opportunity to visit our home city and relive old memories. Christmas 2018 was certainly one to remember!

absolutely fantastic week in this dartmoor cottage

We stayed for a week in this wonderful cottage on the edge of Dartmoor. The cottage has charm and character and was lovely and cool in the heat of this summer! Everything we needed in the kitchen, the bedrooms were great with views of moorland. The garden is secluded, we enjoyed a couple of barbecues. Netflix worked too so the kids were happy. Shops not far away in Bovey on a good road. Location is great for seeing rest of Dartmoor. Take the backroads to Hound Tor or Haytor if you like your country lanes narrow! We enjoyed the outdoor swimming pools in Moretonhampstead and Buckfastleigh, the River Dart country park, cycling in Totnes. Also plenty of tor climbing for kids and plenty of choice of walks from the front door - we managed one down into the Bovey valley and over the Old Clam bridge which the kids loved. Would love to return sometime when its colder and use the wood burner. Thanks!

Perfect cosy cottage in perfect location for the Moors

The cottage was spotless and well appointed. The storage heaters kept it cosey and also the woodburner was wonderful. Lots and lots of local walks and adventures straight from the door. We definitely would like to return. Thank you.

Typically Devon Village and nice property

The property was as described, however the shower was excellent possibly the best in a property we have rented, with gallons of hot water , the heating was very efficient . We really enjoyed our stay in this cottage (and village) and would return.

Charming hideaway on the edge of the moor..

This wonderful characterful cottage on the eastern edge of Dartmoor ticked all the boxes for our stay over New Year. Set high up in Manaton, it is a traditional thatched cottage with Inglenook fireplace and woodburner, which we found very useful in the cold weather. Kitchen well equipped and met our needs. Bedrooms charming and stair gates in case you have young kids. Lovely views to the moors, and great dark skies for stargazing. One of the main things of appeal about Manaton is the ability to do a lot of walks from the doorstep without using the car: Bowerman's Nose, Becky Falls and Manaton rocks to name three excellent ones. The Kester Inn is a stone's throw away and does excellent fish and chips, plus basic provisions. I would recommend this cottage for a stay, especially if you are seeking peace and quite and beautiful Dartmoor on your doorstep

A well maintained and space efficient cottage in lovely countryside

Our family members all enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The kitchen/dining area was cosy for the five of us and the scene of enjoyable meals and hard fought games of Scrabble ! We were visiting the area for a family wedding at Staverton but also had time for walks on Dartmoor and on the coast. Thank you, Melanie, for ensuring that all our needs were accommodated.
