Upon arrival Friday around 5:00 p.m., the temperature inside the property was 80, even though the thermostat was set to 70. The air conditioning was not running. I contacted the host, who was very apologetic and said they would bring portable fans and have maintenance look at the issue.Unfortunately, neither maintenance nor the promised fans were provided on Friday.Saturday evening, close to 10:00 p.m., the host finally contacted me and asked if I could let maintenance into the property to look at the AC. We allowed them access while we were out to dinner. When we returned, the issue had still not been fixed, and the promised fans had still not been delivered.I had to reach out to the host myself to find out what was happening. To be fair, the host responded quickly when I messaged, but there was very little proactive communication or updates regarding the status of the repair.There were two windows that could be opened to help cool the property, but one of them did not have a screen. Because of the heat and the lack of a working AC, we were forced to sleep with the windows open and were extremely uncomfortable throughout the night.The AC breaking was obviously something that can happen, but the way the issue was handled significantly affected our stay. For the price we paid, I expected better communication, follow-through, and a more reasonable effort to provide a temporary solution.
