On arrival we were impressed by the location & lovely views. It is a 15-min. walk to Mijas Pueblo, a quaint white washed traditional Spanish town with lots of character, lovely restaurants & shops. We were 2 families holidaying together with 4 adults & 4 children in total. We were greeted at the villa by Bill who provided a professional handover. As we unpacked, we noted the property has benefitted from some renovation. The kitchen & downstairs bathrooms had been nicely updated, but there were other rooms that were worn & tired, such as the upstairs bathroom.
Within 2 hours of arriving we discovered a rat in the downstairs double bedroom. The property is fitted with Fly screens but they were badly worn & some had holes, and in other rooms were missing. This meant we were not able to leave them open. We did find the missing screens in the wardrobes, but unfortunately the property manager was unable to refit them after a gallant attempt!
Whilst cooking our first meal in the kitchen, some pots & pans were old & badly worn, we also noted that the fan oven didn’t work properly, this was reported to the property manager but unfortunately, he was unable to arrange a repair during our stay. Consequently, all the meals we had planned didn’t come to fruition and we had to eat out more than anticipated.
The front door couldn’t be secured properly, in fact you could easily open it from the outside with a kitchen spatula. Some lights did not work including the pool light, which meant it was unsafe to use the pool after sunset & appreciate the ambience it would have provided.
A curtain rail fell on the children in the bedroom when closing them, the rats were still prevalent, & by the final day were climbing on the table where we had been enjoying lunches. The sunbeds around the pool area were old & some were broken, with signs of previous repairs. Unfortunately, many Issues, including the fan oven, pool lights and rat infestation were not remedied before the end of our stay. The BBQ grill and outside kitchen area was unclean & we felt uncomfortable using it due to the lack of cleanliness, lighting and rats coming from the foliage at the rear of the property.
The property managers always answered our calls and made several visits to the property, All could be rectified & improved with further investment & maintenance and although this had a big impact on our stay, hopefully our feedback will ensure future guests have a more enjoyable stay.
