I booked a Deluxe Studio Suite at Colmena Hotel CDMX Centro and had a terrible experience. From the first day after check in, many basic items were missing. There was no soap for hands or shower, no tissues, no hair dryer despite several requests, an empty minibar and a complimentary bottle of wine that was promised at booking but never delivered. Communication was very difficult because no staff member spoke English, so everything had to be handled through a translation app. There was no drinking water in the room. Guests had to go down from the third floor every time to refill water and even buy their own bottles outside the hotel. I was also told multiple times that I had to wash my own dishes, which is unacceptable for a hotel claiming to be three stars. The worst incident happened on a Sunday afternoon when I returned to find my room door wide open with a staff keychain left in the lock. No employee was around and anyone could have entered my room. This was extremely unsafe. Housekeeping was very poor. For two weeks the room was never properly cleaned, only the bed was made. Floors and bathroom stayed dirty and hair was left everywhere. Even tipping the cleaning staff changed nothing. The bathroom door was broken and never repaired. There was no air conditioning, no heating and the window was not sealed properly. In the last week the couch in my room was removed after it collapsed during cleaning and was never replaced. This hotel is badly, poorly maintained. Avoid it!
